Box: DSL Rays #2 Squad 10, DSL Brewers/Indians 1

Scored a run in the 9th to avoid the shutout.

17-year-old rookie Venezuelan RHP Edwin Jimenez was solid in his 2nd pro appearance, one earned run in four innings. Two Brewer arms followed, then two for the Tribe. None shined.

Seven of the nine position players were Brewers, but they only combined for three hits. Carlos Roa, playing 3B here, doubled, as did catcher Luis Valderrama. RF Jeicor Cristian tripled. Nobody singled.

Box: DSL Brewers 3, DSL Mets #2 Squad 0

Nice!

Just love how diverse the Brewers scouting efforts are - the three RHP's (all rookies) who combined on the three-hit shutout are an 18-year-old from Panama, an 18-year-old from Mexico, and a 20-tear-old Dominican.

We know the 2019 DSL clubs also have players from Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Puerto Rico, I'm sure elsewhere that I'm missing at the moment.

19-year-old RH bat Alejandro Marte returned after an eight-day absence, 2-for-4 to maintain his early .500 average (7-for-14).

17-year-old switch-hitting Dominican rookie 1B Erys Bautista has struggled (4-for-39), but reached three times here (single, walk, HBP). Bautista received a $500,000 bonus. He's listed at 6'1, 220, at his youthful age.

All three runs came across in the 6th:

Reidy Mercado pops out to third baseman Samuel Marte in foul territory.

Rafael Martinez walks.

Erys Bautista singles on a line drive to right fielder Omar De Los Santos. Rafael Martinez to 2nd.

Sebastian Burciaga doubles (1) on a line drive to left fielder Kenedy Corona. Rafael Martinez scores. Erys Bautista to 3rd.

Farlyn Manon singles on a line drive to left fielder Kenedy Corona. Erys Bautista scores. Sebastian Burciaga scores.

Eduarqui Fernandez strikes out swinging and Farlyn Manon caught stealing 2nd, catcher Kevin Torres to second baseman Cesar Berbesi.

San Antonio Pre-Game Media Notes

From the notes, all you fans of Alex Claudio's minor league option:

Hold That: LHP Donnie Hart notched his eighth hold of the season last night, which is tied with the Missions' Deolis Guerra and Oklahoma City's Kevin Quackenbush for the most in the PCL.

Claiming a wild victory

Missions rally twice to win 5-4 in 12 innings

By Jerry Briggs / San Antonio Missions

Sweet is the absolute best --

"They find ways," Missions manager Rick Sweet said. "I thought the couple innings where we had chances and didn't score was really surprising. But as long as we kept it close. You know, Hager's (single) was a big base hit for me, because, when we came in after that inning (after the top of the 12th), I said, 'Enough of that small-ball crap. Let's start swinging the bats. He lays out a rope and it's like, OK, let's go."

Hope you read both reports, good stuff throughout.

32-year-old 2008 21st round LHP Lucas Luetge (11 big league games) still toiling.

Oh, and nicely done, King Felix.

Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes

Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes

Box: Quad Cities 5, Wisconsin 0, six innings, rain

Bravo & the Bandits Beat Wisconsin 5-0

Quad Cities starting pitcher faces the minimum number of Rattlers in rain-shortened game

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

"Bravo and the Bandits" sounds like a 60's-70's era band name or Saturday AM cartoon show.

VIDEO via KWQC: If you want to hear bad Star Wars puns and watch a generous home scoring decision as Brice Turang was not charged with an error within the five-run River Bandit 1st inning (Turang with only nine errors this season, by the way - just one in 24 games at second base, eight in 34 games at short).

Box: Rocky Mountain 11, Orem 7

No game summary available online, but this brief report from the Owlz lamenting Orem's seven errors. Only five of the 11 runs the Vibes scored were "earned".

Big reminder here, especially for friends/family of the Vibes players -- get your MiLB.TV subsciption. Huge bonus, no longer in Helena, so every home game available live and on archive. Road games in division rival cities Orem (like this series) and Grand Junction, and the one Idaho Falls series, all with online video.

Here's an alternative view of the box score that includes the linescore (innings) as well.

19-year-old RHP Cam Robinson, just 17 when drafted out of a Florida high school in the 23rd round in 2017, escapes the Maryvale heat after two seasons. He walked five and plunked one in an uneven 3.2 innings, but congrats on the bump-up regardless.

It was no-earned-runs allowed ball the rest of the way for Vibes pitchers. 22-year-old Venezuelan RHP Joel Pinto is back in the Pioneer League in his 5th pro season (first three in the Domincan League). RHP Steve Pastora (once again, here's his backstory) made his affiliated ball debut. Former Royals farmhand and recent Driveline product Jackson Sigman finished up (Sigman's story).

Nice pro debut for 16th round LF Michael Wilson (SUNY Stony Brook) - HR, single, walk, outfield assist.

RF Micah Bello, batting cleanup, a triple shy of a cycle, three RBI, stolen base. (MiLB.TV subscribers, go to the 01:22:00 hour/minute mark for Wilson's opposite field blast and the 01:28:00 mark of the archive to see Bello's majestic HR to left.)

4th round catcher Nick Kahle (University of Washington) doubled and drove in a run in his pro debut.

Rocky Mountain Top of the 6th (a five-run inning)

Micah Bello doubles (1) on a line drive to center fielder D'Shawn Knowles.

Nick Kahle doubles (1) on a line drive to left fielder Caleb Scires. Micah Bello scores.

Injury Delay.

Ernesto Martinez walks.

Nick Egnatuk flies out to right fielder Rayneldy Rosario. Nick Kahle to 3rd.

Bryan Torres singles on a fly ball to center fielder D'Shawn Knowles. Nick Kahle scores. Ernesto Martinez to 2nd.

Edwin Sano reaches on a fielding error by first baseman Johan Sala. Ernesto Martinez scores. Bryan Torres to 3rd. Edwin Sano to 2nd.

Michael Wilson flies out to left fielder Caleb Scires.

Antonio Pinero reaches on a throwing error by shortstop Morgan McCullough. Bryan Torres scores. Edwin Sano to 3rd.

Throwing error by pitcher Matt Leon on the pickoff attempt. Edwin Sano scores.

Antonio Pinero caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Mario Sanjur to second baseman Jose Verrier.

Go to the 02:28:40 mark to see Kahle's double. Kahle cruised into 2nd base awkwardly, but would walk it off with the trainer and remain on the basepaths. He did not come out on defense in the bottom of the inning, however.

By the way, how spoiled are we with HD video, and my goodness, what a backdrop in Orem.

Three singles for DH Bryan Torres, the LH bat on the same destination path thus far as Joel Pinto mentioned above.

20-year-old switch-hitting Dominican 4th-year-pro 3B Edwin Sano singled in his first game above the Maryvale complex.
