Isn't this supposed to be fun?

Yeah, but I'm a cynic, remember? It's what I do! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

As I noted before, I just can't shake the fact that the always-free spending owners of the Astros and Cardinals, at the very least, will refuse to accept also-ran status for another year.

The Cubs very well may be sold to a conglomerate that could lower their exorbitant payroll, as the Braves new owners have, which would suit me just fine.

But St. Louis and Houston? We don't have their market size, nor their comparatively unlimited funds. And the Reds aren't always this bad.

So far, I agree, Mark's been so much better than the Seligs in terms of giving Doug the funding he needs so far. So, to me at least, Mark has proven he'll try to field a competitive team, a watchable product. But given no cap, and our division of free spenders, will that be enough?

"So if this fruit's a Brewer's fan, his ass gotta be from Wisconsin...(or Chicago)."

Preceding (and very interesting) conversation aside, I was less than pleased at the way averages or Pythagoras or fate or whatever you want to blame it on came into play and the division turned into a race, but if we're going to be treated to drama and games like tonight on a regular basis, then I'll learn to live with it.

For some, well, for me--this is definitely not fun. I've got a seriously bad heart, and fun for me is the Brewers taking the division by 20 games and sweeping every series, while averaging double digit runs per game with an ERA of about 2.00.

I like watching other teams in close battles, let them beat the crap outta each other and drive their fans to suicide on an emotional rollercoaster. Give me a yawner from beginning to end. Yeah, I know I'm wrong.

I'm still enjoying the season as a whole but actually watching the games is getting tough to enjoy. I like nice tight games but it's also nice to have games that are in hand from beginning to end. When a 6-1 game is stressful, it's tough to let your guard down.
