Man Grandal has been so good this year.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Man Grandal has been so good this year.

And to get that kind of production out of the catcher position seems so rare. It is going to be hard to see him go next year (assuming they don’t re-sign him).

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Extend Grandal, deal Nottingham? Might be a good move to make.

Tough loss because if you get 8 with the lineup they have watered down you say u should win. This shows however that there really isn't a game you can afford to pitch Jacob Barnes. You know he isn't capable of keeping the game where it is so you really are just giving up. I ask again this is the best this organization can do?? Statements are being made when guys like Barnes and Aguilar are keeping spots that should be held by productive players.

I honestly don’t see how this staff improves . There are no good trade options and no one really to promote.

I think there are some decent to good SP trade options, I just don’t know if the Brewers have the resources or desire to deal what it will take to acquire any of them.

Here is a quick list of starters that will likely be shopped to some extent at this year’s deadline...

Trevor Bauer, RHP, Cleveland Indians

Madison Bumgarner, LHP, San Francisco Giants

Robbie Ray, LHP, Arizona Diamondbacks

Zack Greinke, RHP, Arizona Diamondbacks

Marcus Stroman, RHP, Toronto Blue Jays

Caleb Smith, LHP, Miami Marlins

Matthew Boyd, LHP, Detroit Tigers

Mike Minor, LHP, Texas Rangers

Aaron Sanchez, RHP, Toronto Blue Jays

Tanner Roark, RHP, Cincinnati Reds

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Would anyone be surprised if they go on a bad streak sometime soon too?

I really don’t know what to think of this team

I actually get the sense they're going to go on a tear soon. This offense is already pretty damn good and it's not even close to tapping into its full potential. And they have the pieces to put together a very deep pitching staff. At some point the stars will align and they'll have a 12-13 man group with everyone contributing. I really believe that.

Barnes keeps getting chances because his FIP this year is 3.88 (xFIP is 4.02) and for his career is 3.59 with 9.4 K/9. His BABIP this year is .333 (unluckily high) and his LOB% is 53.4% (well below his career LOB% of 69%). He's not great - he's an average major league reliever - but he is nowhere near as bad as some here think he is.

We started 8-2. Woah, awesome. Picking right back where we left off at the end of last season.

Then we went 5-11 in our next 16. Uh oh, maybe we should start thinking about cashing in some guys at the deadline & start studying up on the 2020 draft class.

Then just when were on the verge of falling below .500 we rattle off another 11-3 stretch to put us at 24-16 (almost a 100 win pace!) a quarter of the way into the season.

Since then we've gone 14-13, with a relatively soft 24 game slate remaining until the ASB. We could go 13-11 over that stretch & it could probably still be viewed as a bad streak given the quality of competition.

I guess ultimately what I think of this team is that they should finish the season within a couple two tree wins in either direction of 90 & that should hopefully be enough to make the postseason.

From there, anything can happen.

That AB should be the nail in the coffin for Jesus. Can't be 1st pitch hacking after a walk to load the bases when you're down 6, especially with as godawful as he's been this year.

Agree. Really, Who claims him? Marlins? Baltimore has Davis. Who else? KC maybe?

Goodness Gracious stop with the stats and open your eyes. Mop up duty pitcher, and he’s not even able to do that well.

Stop quoting other posters and telling them to open their eyes or that you are the only one that sees certain things. This is really getting old. Not going to continue to ask you to stop with the combative posting style.

It wasn't on the hitters tonight overall -- offense did it's part, but I am done with Jesus Aguilar.

He offers no positional versatility or defensive value. If he isn't hitting the baseball, he has no value to us.

It is time to move on. It's a wasted roster spot at this point. Just get what you can get, and I realize it won't be much, but trade him. Someone will take a shot.

Wouldn't hurt to see what else is out there available for trade. Perhaps a Garrett Cooper reunion? In the meantime, just use Grandal at 1st/Pina catching to cover against tough lefties.

A NL team would have 1st dibs. Whats Arz doing at 1b? The Mets? Col? Isnt the Giants 1b a lefty? I'd imagine one of those picks him up if he were waived just to get a 1mo chance to see him figure something out and trade him at the deadline to a team maybe in need post injury.

Well scrath the Mets, put Was and maybe San Diego as other Platoon usage potential.

Lets look at the Giants with Will Smith. Package Aguilar with something enticing.
