When I saw Biloxi won 6-0 I assumed Grisham hit another HR or two but sadly went 0-4. Starting to get excited that Devin Williams could be a key part of the Milwaukee bullpen down the road but will be a free agent if not added to the 40 man for next season.

When he's added to the 40-man this offseason, we'll have him for at least 3 more years.

I've been watching D. Williams stats and it appears that they are using him most games for 2 IP. His walks are still too high, but he doesn't give up many hits and has very good SO numbers. It will be interesting to see if he can continue to develop better control while still missing bats. Could be a good bullpen option to go back and forth between MKE and San Antonio next year.

Bowden Francis' season thus far might mark the first time a guy has posted a 5.22 ERA at a level and actually made me more intrigued by his prospect status. 10+ K/9 and less than a hit an inning when he's pitching a level higher than he probably should be is at least something.

Or at his age, history, and full year of recovery from surgery, perhaps back to starting.

Kind of like taking on your half-brother...it was 8-0 after six innings. Seven losses in a row after a 2-0 start.

 

Two second-year-pro's, 18-year-old Dominican RHP's Leony Rosario and converted OF Francis Casado combined to go 6 IP, 11 H, 8 R (5 ER, Brewers error, lone error of the game for the co-op), two BB, one K, one HR.

 

Rookie 17-year-old Venezuelan SS Carlos Roa is clearly one to watch. He has multi-hit games in five of his first seven games, and was a triple shy of the cycle here, OPS now 1.192.

 

Two second-year players reached three times each -- just-turned 18-year-old Dominican LH bat CF Jeicor Cristian, and 17-year-old Venezuelan catcher Eduin Lugo.

Scoreless contest until a four-run Phillies 6th. Brewers scored their lone run in the 9th, now both DSL Cervecitos squads are 2-7.

 

Outstanding work by 18-year-old 2nd-year-pro Venezuelan RHP Kleiber Bordones - 5 innings of no-hit ball, one BB, three K. In his last two outings, he's pitched eight innings of scoreless one-hit ball (he did walk four in the prior outing).

 

Speaking of walking four, rookie 18-year-old Dominican RHP Erovis Alcantara followed Bordones and this happened:

One note: Recently-turned 19-year-old RF 3rd-year-pro Alejandro Marte, off to a 5-for-10 start, has not played since exiting June 7th. Perhaps there was a collision after the final play of the prior inning?
