One bad pitch is 2 runs when the previous batter walks on strike 3.

How much would you love to see how an automated ball/strike caller would compare to what the umps call, and focus on pitches where the calls are different. It doesn’t seem like it would take much for the automatic calls to be better, or at least more consistent. If nothing else it would remove any personal bias that an umpire might have for or against certain hitters and pitchers.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Hopefully the minor league trials go well and it’s here sooner than later.

Has the site been down a lot for anyone else?

It’s not often that you see a guy go from carrying the offense on his back, like Aguilar did for awhile the first half of last year, to being a complete dead weight in the order, like he is now. If he got a hit every time he hit the ball hard he’d still have trouble topping the Mendoza line.

The by product of the Shaw Thames combo and swapping out Keston Hiura is lefties are going to be a problem. Grandal and Moose are going to be quieter and Aguilar is no longer playable. Another right handed option would be huge.

Unless you are Brandon Woodruff if you are a pitcher and you manage to get into a 3 ball count you should almost always be taking all the way until you either walk or strike out. Anderson just took a wild hack at Ball 4 and it wasn't close to being a strike.

Really poor offensive day so far. Brault is the very definition of just a dude, and he'll walk guys if you let him.

Cain might need a mysterious 10-day IL trip.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
