Way to go Stearns..letting Kimbrel go to your biggest rival. You absolutely CANNOT let that happen. If the Cubs win the division it's on DS. I thought they were "going for it" this year?? Guess not...

It’s not Stearns, it’s attanasio, not wanting the payroll to reach a certain point. The Brewers want us to think we’re still small market, revenue wise, even though we’re closer to the average mid-market than small market. They have haudricourt & most of brewerfan thinking they can only do a payroll of 125-135 million, when in reality with there playoffs last year they could of done much more this year, and more next year and even more the following year. Of course that’s just my opinion, but it’s based on tons of thought and analysis.

Now back to the game.

3 years 45 million for Kimbrel

Never gong to be a wise use of resources for us to do that

Yep. No way you outbid that for a reliever.

The word that Keuchel is likely going to have to bite on a one year at $18M pro-rated intrigues me more. Still, expensive roll of the dice for a guy who sat out this long.

As bad as the pitching and defense was the last 2 games you aren't going to win when you score 1 run in 2 games either.

It's a long season.....going to be bad stretches but man these were 2 ugly games......

Brewers were a 270 favorite tonight....lol

Silver lining tonight with Albers. He's really pitched quite well lately ... actually for a large chunk of the season. ERA down under 4 now, and averaging more than 1 K per inning. Pitching himself back into a prime set-up role. Really nice to see.

Guerra on the other hand......

If I'm the Cubs, I'm happy to punt this season's production in order to have the best closer in baseball for 2020 and 2021.

The Crew just could not swing that. Unless you want to pass on keeping Grandal for those two years...

Not gonna happen, we can be intrigued all we want, it should happen if Keuchel wants to come here, but Na, we’re the sisters of the poor.

He’s been throwing simulated games of 100 pitches, probably ready with 2 minor league starts.

Getting behind by 4 runs early really takes the starch out of a team and having the other team add on almost every inning completely kills them.

The Brewers would probably be better off forfeiting tomorrow and taking a day of rest. They aren’t likely to do better than the 9-0 forfeit score with First Inning Freddy and the Gas Can Five on the mound.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I said yesterday that I would be disappointed if the Brewers didn’t win at least 4 games on this homestand. Now I feel like they’ll be lucky to win 2.

You seem to think you are a Harvard grad and the worlds expert on baseball financials.

When in reality this entire forums knowledge put together would be about a penny compared to a million dollars. Anyone here can pretend to think they now a sliver about who can afford what and how this effects that...but really we know nothing.

If you ever write a paper on all those thoughts and analysis you have done I’d like to see it. Because whatever it is never seems to make it into your posts. And I’m serious...cause it would be interesting if all that analysis on why we can afford tens of million more a year actually exists. Cause no one else on this planet seems to think that way. Cause I don’t understand how an average joe could know so much about financials no one outside an organization knows.

Speaking for your self? I remember a post you made back early this year we’re you said the brewers could do a payroll of 140 million no problem, that it was nothing, and your sick of people thinking that our payroll was so much, what happened?

You know what everyone else on the planet thinks?

There are three things America will be known for 2000 years from now when they study this civilization: the Constitution, jazz music and baseball. They're the three most beautifully designed things this culture has ever produced. Gerald Early
