Watching to see if the Cardinals can close it out against the Cubs. Up 2-0, top of the 9th with 1 out, runners on 1st and 3rd. Adam Wainwright pitched 8 shutout innings, despite 7 walks.

I feel dirty cheering for the Cardinals, but in this scenario I think it's acceptable.

Agreed. Wish there was a way for both the Cards and Cubs to lose.

How about their entire series gets rained out and then has to be made up as 3 straight double headers towards the end of the year.
Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

Really nice series win, remember last year how we struggled on Sundays for a while but now have had 3 straight 8IP by our starters on Sunday. 8 games over .500 matching season high and Marlins coming in, great chance to move out and take a good hold of 1st place.

Putting in the dude who has given up the most HR in baseball in a situation where a HR wins the game is, uh, gutsy.

There are now six MLB pitchers who have surrendered more HR than Corbin this year & five more who have surrendered the same amount of HR as Corbin.

some of ya'll are uber literal.

Using objective information to dispel overly negative hyperbole is kind of my shtick.

Game 7 vs dodgers we got shut down by their pitching.

Yes, we lost that game. It wasn't an indication of the series as a whole. Yelich, Braun, Moose to name a few went cold. It happens. And it is still a terrible way to go about making decisions on a team with using one game.

24 runs in 7 games is less than 3 1/2 rpg by the crew.

We outscored the team you keep using as a "superior" team to us. The Dodgers were blanked in one of the games. Do they need to find more "professional" hitters too?

Our bullpen almost won the series for us, right guys?

Actually, Soria and Jeffress are a big reason we didn't make the WS. They were awful. Probably more so than a few of our bats going cold (Braun, Moose, Yeli)

Your “agenda” seems to be whatever I believe, you believe the opposite. That’s the agenda I see here by a little more than a few.

You make some good points around here at times. But you are posting about 15 times a day right now and most of it is the same message, on every thread we have in the forum. You haven't picked up on how annoying you have been as a poster. You continue to go down the same road, even when your schtick falls apart, you double down on it. For me, you are the worst type of fan. You think the Brewers owe you something and even when they are really, really good. You don't even enjoy it.

But if I’m wrong and you don’t see any issues with being a team too reliant on the home run, fine then we’ll just agree to disagree. After all that is today’s mlb game, with the juiced ball and all. But the Braves can homer and manufacture runs, so can the dreaded dodgers, the Rockies even the cubbies. But not us, I guess we’re just to undisciplined an offense. But we can homer our way to lots of victories especially with our pitching and defense. At least until the playoffs when great pitching usually beats power hitters.

The Brewers do rely on the homer to score more than some teams but they are good at it and that is how they are built. The same man you keep saying will be looking for a different type of hitter, built this team you watch every single day. And while they have struggled with a man on 3rd with less than 2 outs, they have also been great with runners in scoring position. I'd be willing to bet that they will get better at the first part and probably remain competent with RISP. PITCHING is and has been the issue but even that is beginning to settle in now, without having to break the bank and hit the market.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I'd say that getting taken out of the rotation probably helped him slide down the list a bit.

No doubt. That's why I thought there was no possible way he could still have given up the most HR in baseball. Turns out he hasn't.

I guess the way I look at it is this...

Has Burnes given up the most HR in baseball? No.

Does Burnes have the highest HR/9 of any pitcher with at least 30 IP in 2019? Yes.

Did 11 of those HR come in 4 starts against the Cardinals twice, Dodgers & Cubs at the beginning of the season? Yes.

Did the other 3 HR he gave up as a reliever all come in one appearance with no HR surrendered in his other 10 relief appearances? Yes.

Is Corbin's career HR/9 of 1.18 as a reliever more indicative of his true talent level & expected future results than his 5.61 HR/9 as a starter? I believe (& certainly hope) so.

Doesn't change the fact that he's allowed 15 ER in 15.2 IP out of the pen. 16 hits, 9BB for roughly a 1.6 whip. I don't think we are seeing anything indicative of his true talent yet. Location location location needs to improve.

Today he threw 7 pitches. 5 were nasty, 1 was good, 1 absolutely could have lost the game if Diaz was on it. He HUNG a slider middle middle. He has loads of talent, he's just making too many mistakes and he's certainly not been lucky on them like he got today.

I wasn't being negative about it. I just said it was gutsy. I didn't say it was idiotic or stupid. Really I didn't feel strongly about it either way, I just thought it was very interesting.

Now to be sure, I should have said the HR/IP leader, not the HR leader. What I said was technically inaccurate. But it was just intended to reflect the risk given Burnes' HR struggles this year and spoke to the faith Counsell still has in him in that kind of situation. It wasn't intended to be a "stupid move' statement.

The only thing that matters to me, is our comparison to the dodgers, because we will meet again this year in a repeat series, I’m sure of it. Other than LA, we’re the best team in the NL. Right now there is a large gap, but Stearns can close that gap over the next 2 months. I’m hoping we can spend the money needed to move the needle enough to have a good chance to get past them to the World Series.

I would put the Brewers as much closer to the Dodgers in 2018. They took the Dodgers to 7 games, outscored them over the series, and were a couple of hits away from facing the Red Sox in the World Series.

In the offseason since, the Brewers upgraded at catcher, and maintained most of the rest of their roster. The return to form of Davies has offset the departure of Miley. The return of Gio helps. So does Nelson's. Burnes has had a rough patch, so has Peralta. Woodruff has emerged as a TOR guy.

The bullpen is close to its late 2018 form. Albers has rebounded some, and Jeffress, after missing time with injury, is back in form as well. Hirua's arrival also changes things for the better.

All in all, I think the Crew can take the Dodgers in a NLCS rematch as they stand today.

I believe we are a better team than last year overall, but the dodgers are probably the most improved team in baseball. Bellinger is already over 5 war, but it’s the high quality depth that’s so overwhelming in it’s numbers that a player as good as AJ pollack gets injured and it doesn’t matter one iota.

The discipline of all of their hitters has gotten better since last year, earlier this year in Milwaukee when we played them their hitters dominated our pitchers, it was embarrassing how much better they were than us. And their pitching is ridiculous. They go 12 deep in quality starters, which spill over into their bullpen to make it ridiculous too. Their only possible weakness might be in the very back end of their pen in Jansen Baez. But they’ll address that at the deadline.

It’s not hyperbole to say that they will win 110+ games and romp over everyone but us. I’m hoping Stearns see’s what I see and is able to spend the money to close the mile wide gap between us and them.

The Dodgers are one of the richest & smartest teams in MLB.

They have won their division six years in a row, this will be year seven.

Over that time frame they have won 30 more games (& counting) than the second best team.

They have won zero World Series in that time.

Anything can happen in the playoffs.
