2019-06-01: Brewers (Woodruff) at Pirates (Kingham) [Brewers win, 12-10 in 13 innings -- Wild roller coaster ride ends with Arcia’s 2nd HR of the game proving the difference]

To bring it back to the game.... are we really going to make room for Shaw? I guess Thames is expendable based upon Shaw's past stats- I think there will be a riot if Hiura is replaced by poor defense (moose at 2b) and horrible offense (Shaw).

264 earned runs by brewers pitching

21 by peralta starting in 26 innings

36 by burnes

12 Barnes, 12 Wilson aren't on the team.

8.54 era from those guys

3.75 from everyone else (including Peralta in the pen)

I see the problem. It's not more pitching.

Good information.

I knew we’ve been good pitching wise since the end of April, but that is being specific to the problem.

As someone point out, his defense is a ready made narrative to do so. I think service time might play a roll as well if they are not certain he is past super two. They may be trying to play this out until the deadline and then bring Hiura back up. Who knows but there are certainly scenarios.

Switch Shaw to hitting RH, cut Jesus. I can't comprehend how bad those two have been this year.

I don't mind going with the bigger bench. There are five pitchers in AAA on the 40-man, all pitching well, and the shuttle hasn't been running much lately.

That’s a ball Aguilar used to hit to right.

If you think about 1B, who’s the best legitimate 1B option in our minor league system? We don’t exactly have a log jam there...

How hard would it be to pick up a right handed option at the deadline?

They may try to do that, but I think everyone involved knows that's the wrong way to go. We need all the offense we can get since we can't play defense or pitch. I saw the stats outside of guys 1,2, etc. but those guys are still pitching for the major league club for some unknown reason. We continually get close to making a run and horrible pitching and defense drag us right back down. Be bold, Stearns.

Maybe higher payroll led to a cut in the transportation budget. :laughing

That's exactly the point. You can cherry pick out certain periods of time with the pitching but those guys are still part of this teams depth and they are going to pitch big league innings for this team. Even with the holes in the offense this is still a good offense. The pitching isn't all that good period. The ONLY reason I would send Hiura down is if we haven't missed super two. It think that is legit.

Give me a break dude. You pick your favorites and your dislikes and then you just pander results to try to explain yourself right. I'm stunned more people aren't livid about you talking nothing but back patting nonsense.

That’s 90% of the forum this year.

True but just seems like a bad spot to spend prospects on. Maybe they rotate Shaw and Thames with Perez getting some starts vs tough lefties?

Thames actually not terrible with a .800 OPS.

They played Perez there the other day, maybe actually considering it. He’s actually an instant upgrade on both sides of the ball.

Rough, I guess a few just get under my skin. I've gotten stomped on for being reserved about Rasmussen since his promotion to AA started and I didn't even go back to it after last nights rough go. I try my best to go with reality and then when it happens I don't need to told you so.

Screwed up bad on Alex Cobb a couple years ago. I was obsessed with getting him.

The cost is a consideration but I'm thinking you can get a right handed platoon bat for not much prospect capital. Did not cost much to get Moose last year. Something along that line would be fine with me. I'm thinking some sort of weird platoon with Shaw and Thames can't be worse than Aguilar has been. Maybe it could. Perez is an outside the box answer maybe. It's a tricky situation for sure unless Shaw starts raking.

This is some solid self-ownage.

I actually pull him up on reference at least once a month to see if he turned it around. Nope. Not at all.

Braun has become very streaky at this point in his career. He's either very good or very bad. On a bad stretch at the moment. Probably doesn't need to be hitting 3rd.

It seems like over the last 2-3 years its been entirely his strike zone. When he's off he's chasing. When he's on he's making them deal with him. I'm not a big Braun fan but when he's dialed in the guy hits everything but that strike zone wanders for him a lot.

Not a fan of Shaw/Thames. You are assuring yourself garbage results vs. LHP. With Aguilar, sure, maybe he is garbage...but at least there is hope he can do good or even figure it out entirely. Little reward going Shaw/Thames.
