I am as happy as anyone the Brewers have Hiura, but it is also clear he has a ways to go with his defensive development. He doesn’t have a ton of range and that isn’t likely to change much, but he is going to have to improve on his consistency of making good throws. The poor throw this inning basically cost the Brewers 4 runs.

I get that the error extended the inning but Woodruff can't fall apart just because that throw was off a bit. Woodruff is costing us the runs.

Wow imagine pinch hitting this early with a chance to knock them out. Counsell please take note.

Even a HR here is hardly a knockout. Chance to take he lead, certainly.

True but keep the pressure on a reeling pitcher. Gotta go for it. Almost worked for them.

Pirates patient, contact orientated attack polar opposite of the crew. Power vs contact.

That patient, contact oriented offense has scored 55 less runs than our reckless hackers. I'll take the 288 runs over 233 regardless.

Arcia is going to hit 20. He’s also going to make some feel very foolish.

Himself for not trying to improve sooner? The coaching staff for not helping him?

I sent Arcia a letter a few seeks into the season telling him he should start trying to improve. He sent me a response "Thanks I never thought of that!" plus an autographed bat. Guess it's working.

Wow. What a dick move on your part but a great response from him.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Well...it could have been worse. But it certainly could have been a lot better.

Good point, the range of reasonably likely outcomes in that inning were anything from 0 runs allowed to 7+ runs allowed.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Yes. No doubt.

Pirates devoid of power, less Bell of course. They need a lot our power, we need a little of their contact.

Pitching injuries killing them right now though.

If they got "a lot" of our power wouldn't that make them home run reliant....which is your complaint about the Brewer lineup? i mean you can keep on pounding this narrative about the offense but it really doesn't make much sense. The fact that a large percentage of their runs are scored off of home runs is because they hit so many dang home runs. If you hit as many home runs as they do a large portion of their runs are necessarily going to come from home runs.
