Also, Arcia with 8 HR's by June 1st is a real nice treat. Just a real nice treat.

[sarcasm]We should extend him before he finishes his transformation into yelich.[/sarcasm]

Remember what Yoda said:

He's out, that's game.

I gotta say, I'm really happy for Houser. The guy had a strange ride to get here and he's looked better nearly every time out. He's not some run of the mill, made it to the show long reliever. He's becoming a very good one. The pitches looked sharper today than they did his first time out this year.

Good to see him get a W.

Let me summarize:

“Yah! Let’s go offense! 5-0 lead with Woodruff, ballgame!”

“Terrible defense, if there is a reason to send down Hiura this is it!”

“I might need a break from watching this team for a few weeks”

“MVP MVP MVP!”

“We can’t expect Hader to get six outs all the time! Might as well get him out of there now, Sign Kimbrel!”

“HIURA!!!! We can never send him down! Thank god we kept Hader in pitching!”

“Albers is asking for trouble.”

“BIG OLE SASSY GETS OUT OF IT.”

“ARCIA! BALLGAME!”

Houser might be another bullpen arm we can start to use more regularly. He has good stuff. Keep him up and off the shuttle. I would not have thought he was better than Burnes but so far he is for sure.

Lots of good young arms in this organization, Braves 2.0

Awesome! Nice work from Houser. Getting harder to send that guy back down with each outing. Pfft to the people that said he's just a guy. That arm is electric. It's almost too bad that he's about 8 or 9 on the starting pitching pecking order.

Guilty, from the first outing this year the heat was there but it seems like the ball is moving more and more every game. Right now, he's used as the last guy in the pen. He is certainly not the worst guy in the pen. If he's not here to stay, I don't have the foggiest clue why.

Was this the emotional roller coaster game of the year so far?

When we were up 5-0 our win probability was around 92 percent.

When the Pirates went up 7-5 their win probability was around 80 percent, so about a 72 point swing.

When we went up 8-7 our win probability peaked around 75 percent, so another 55 point swing.

When the Pirates went up 10-8 their win probability was around 93 percent, so another 68 point swing.

When we won the game our win probability was 100 percent, so a 93 point swing.

Pretty wild. You must be at least this tall to ride the ride.

I think the only reason he'd be sent back down would be to get stretched back out as a starter. But he's proven himself so far as a solid multi-inning capable pen arm, which is extremely valuable on this team. They are also very deep in starting rotation options. Pitching is in a very good place right now.

These last 5 saturdays have taken years off my life...

In his last 30 games Arcia has been batting near 300 with a 775 OPS and I feel that snuck up on EVERYONE here

Yeah certainly did for me. For most of last year or earlier in the season it wasn't as if he was doing well but not getting the results; he looked completely lost. And then suddenly, almost overnight, he turned things around. And now he hits for avg, takes his walks and hits timely home runs.

Houser has looked really good. Has had some bad luck with batted balls (Both BABIP and HR/FB %) that makes his already good numbers look a bit worse than they perhaps should. He's a groundball machine who can get some strikeouts as well. With Chacin and Gio being FAs, Anderson's team option not looking like a slam dunk, and Nelson yet to make his return Houser is (Or should be anyway) in the running for a rotation role next year. And of course a candidate for spot starts this year too when the workload and schedules align.
