Good luck to the Dominican Summer League teams beginning play today.

Games kick off at 9:30 AM Central, and teams have Sundays off.

Once again, the Brewers have their own squad, and another they share with the Indians. Online rosters will be finalized later Saturday on MiLB.com's roster pages. We'll provide links tonight.

In our opening post each day, we'll provide two links for you. That's because MiLB does not include the shared Brewers/Indians team on the Milwaukee organizational scoreboard. If you are wondering which players belong to Cleveland or Milwaukee within those boxes, click the names, it will indicate as such. As the season moves along, you'll get better at picking out the Crew farmhands from within the box.

Most often, our Link Report posts on these games will happen in the evening. Thanks for your patience.

Spotted this link and listing for the shared squad over on a Tribe message board.

DSL Indians/Brewers 2019 roster

http://www.milb.com/roster/index.jsp?cid=617&sid=milb

Went thru all the links and it appears of the 32 players listed, 20 are from the Brewers.

Pitching staff is evenly split from the organizations (8-8) & the Tribe has added 4 infielders (Baez, Gomez, Meza & Sanquintin). I'm surprised by the addition of Sanquintin to the squad as he had some buzz on the Tribe boards & prospect reporting earlier this year (#26 according to BA).

18-year-old Brewers catcher Luis Valderrama is going to be awfully tired by season's end, at least as how that roster links as of 11:00 AM Central. :)

Box: DSL Brewers / Indians 3, DSL Cubs #1 Squad 1

Making pro debuts (keep in mind nearly all the youngsters will play multiple positions this summer):

3B Carlos Roa (17, Venezuela, $385,000), listed as a SS

2B Angel Bautista (17, Dominican Republic, no bonus info, listed as a SS)

RF Bryan Nino (17, Colombia, no bonus info, listed as a CF)

RHP Yostin Villalobos (18, Venezuela, no bonus info)

***

Villalobos faced only one over the minimum (home run) in three innings of middle relief and netted himself the win.

Third-year pro Elian Gonzalez, playing first base for only the 4th time, had the big game, three hits, including a triple.

Box: DSL Cardinals "Red" 5, DSL Brewers 2

Making pro debuts (keep in mind nearly all the youngsters will play multiple positions this summer):

CF Eduarqui Fernandez (17, Dominican Republic, $1,100,000)

SS Eduardo Garcia (turns 17 in July, Venezuela, oddly, his signing bonus remains a mystery but was significant)

RF Erys Bautista (17, Dominican Republic, $500,000)

3B Branlyn Jaraba (17, Colombia, $1,100,000, listed as a SS)

2B Jesus Parra (16, Venezuela, no bonus info, listed as a 3B)

C Jhonnys Cabrera (turns 17 this week, Venezuela, $300,000)

DH Rafael Martinez (17, Venezuela, $435,000, listed as a CF)

RHP Rafael Garcia (18, Panama, no bonus info)

RHP Junior Montero (20, Dominican Republic, no bonus info)

***

Brewers actually had more hits, 5-4, but Garcia walked five and threw two wild pitches in 3.1 hitless innings (we don't type that too often).

A pricy but potentially talent-laden lineup here, it seems.

DSL Brewers Bottom of the 7th

Branlyn Jaraba homers (1) on a fly ball to left center field.

Hope he got the ball. Do all these kids get their first-hit balls? Wonder about that in Maryvale post-draft as well...

Well we found the 2nd Catcher - Eduin Lugo served as catcher in this game...

Slowing down a PCL division leader

Omaha builds early lead, beats San Antonio, 7-2

By Jerry Briggs / San Antonio Missions

Yes, quotes - now Rick Sweet, Burch Smith has been very, very good all season, but that was almost a "Soup pitched great" equivalent line you tossed out in terms of this particular game.

***

Help us out, folks. RHP Jon Olczak makes his first appearance since May 7th, back from "Rocky Mountain taxi squad" purgatory.

The very disjointed Sky Sox roster shows only ten position players (11 including Travis Shaw), but 16 pitchers (as of this early Sunday AM).

It was a designated hitter game, so the contest began with only Tyler Saladino and Tuffy Gosewisch on the bench.

Then this happened for no apparent reason:

San Antonio Bottom of the 5th

Troy Stokes grounds out, third baseman Kelvin Gutierrez to first baseman Samir Duenez.

Lucas Erceg flies out to center fielder Brett Phillips.

Jake Hager grounds out, shortstop Humberto Arteaga to first baseman Samir Duenez.

Omaha Top of the 6th

Defensive Substitution: Tuffy Gosewisch replaces second baseman Nate Orf, batting 3rd, playing first base.

Defensive switch from first base to second base for Jake Hager.

So we'll work on finding out why Orf exited, and also which pitcher transaction occurred to allow for Olczak's activation.

Veteran broadcaster Stu Paul handled Nashville audio in 2010 and 2011 when the Brewers were there. Now he's part of the Missions' broadcast team. He just missed a Tim Dillard overlap.
