The umpire didn't help against Archer, but the two pitches were borderline strikes, not egregious misses.

That's just the reality of human umps, if you're missing you're not going to usually get borderline calls. I don't like it either, but that's the way it has generally been pre-robo umps.

If you can't fire in 3 clear strikes to a noodle swinging pitcher, I really don't feel that sorry for you.

No they weren't.

You win, Chacin was great.

No he was terrible. Clearly terrible. But the umpire can not assume ball because a guys been wild. If they can't see it, put machines on the job. The gift pitch amounted to nothing. Pushing in a run and extending an inning when a HORRIBLE hitter is up changed this game.

The ump basically gave Chacin 3 unearned runs. Doesn't mean Chacin didn't suck but he absolutely to leaned on that AB due to assumption.

Peralta comes in in the 4th if that AB wasn't botched.

MKE can afford to PH for Chacin but not pull Peralta there.

That's a HUGE difference in this game because this ump can't do his job without guessing on past results.

Wow. A hit makes it a one run game and we decline to make it happen? Isn't Houser on this team? I am shocked.

They need Peralta to pitch 2-3 innings.

They might need it but I'm not sure they're going to get it.

But we don't have machines, and we aren't going to anytime soon. As was mentioned, if you need borderline calls to get the pitcher out you have bigger issues. This game is on Chacin, no one else.

Did Plesac just refer to Chacin as "Shaolin"? Mispronouncing names is one thing, but this is truly spectacularly off.

I thought I heard that too but I've got a bit of a cold so I assumed I misheard.

They weren't even borderline calls. They were CLEAR strike. Both had more than 50% of the ball in the zone.

And the one to Stallings had 0% of the zone. Without that call he probably walks too. Regardless, it was the pitcher, just get after him.

Yup nothing. Pitch 1. 2 balls follow. Strike Foul Swinging K. 3 in the zone following 3 balls. Does that have an impact. Sure. Is it close to the impact that squeezing Chacin vs Archer. Not even close.

I'm stating facts. What part do you disagree with?

3-0 guys taking chacin throws a strike

3-1 foul

3-2 swinging strike

Huge impact?

Two pitches easily inside the corner are called balls and the latter or the 2 forces in a run and extends and inning with their worst batter up.

Huge impact.
