2019-05-31: Brewers (Chacín) at Pirates (Archer) [Brewers lose, 9-4 -- Chacín issues three walks with the bases loaded; Hiura goes 3-for-4 with a HR and 3 RBIs]

Eye Black

Machines can't come soon enough. That was strike 3. 2 of the balls were clean strikes that were off target badly so Grandal couldn't frame them. The fact this game is decided by who can fool the guy behind the plate best is absurd.

Not going to get that call because you've been wild is no excuse. It just explains why umpires are miserable at their job. They are not accurate, they assume.

Lol, yeah... I'm sure Chacin was trying to not throw strikes. The guy is as professional as it gets.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

This is the kind of game the Brewers end up losing 6-5. Counsell is not good at reading these situations and stopping the bleeding fast enough. No reason to keep him out there this long. He's either hurt or stinks. Either way he shouldn't start again.

That was pitiful. Usually this is a team effort win or lose, but Jhoulys Chacin single handedly gave this game away.

5-1 isn’t out of reach for the offense...

7-1 will be tougher...

I'm sure he was trying. When you walk in 3 runs in an inning including the pitcher, it is on said pitcher. His effort was not in question.

The umpire gave Chacin a gift against Stallings.

Dallas Kuechel, please pick up the red courtesy phone...Dallas Kuechel, the red courtesy phone please.

Or, you know, Jimmy Nelson.

There has to be something not quite right with Jimmy. I can't see how 60% of this rotation keeps a former ace out of your rotation.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Absolutely did. No argument here. He still strikes out that AB if that is a ball. Pitch 1 of the AB is not forcing in a run and extending an inning.

Brewers way though is probably going to keep Chacin out there every 5 days because he's a great guy who works hard. These games matter. We are in June already and the guy has a very small track record of success so let's not treat him like Greg Maddux. Get Nelson into his spot.

Woodruff and Davies should definitely be 100% safe. Anderson, Gio and Chacin are all kind of meh starters and it wouldn't kill me to see any of the 3 replaced.
