In addition to continuing on with the Pat McInerney experiment at third base, the Mudcats have Clayton Andrews starting in center field today. Checked in on the game and no, that is not a box score error.

 

Andrews was a 2-way player in college, so who knows where this will go.

I don't have much hope for Corey Ray anymore. I think he's a bust. A lefty Keon Broxton.

 

I don't think he'll be anywhere near as successful as Keon Broxton.

Keon broke out at age 24 in AA, repeated AA for 45 games at age 25 before getting the bump to AAA then was acquired by the Brewers & spent his age 26 season between AAA/MLB.

 

Corey broke out at age 23 in AA & is currently struggling in AAA at age 24. That is still at least a year ahead of Keon's developement.

 

Less than ideal for a 5th overall pick to be sure, but still too early to completely write him off considering he played part of the year hurt & was always more of a tools guy than a polish guy despite his high draft slot.
