2019-05-16: Brewers (Davies) at Phillies (Eflin) [Brewers win, 11-3 -- Four home runs combined from Yelich (2), Grandal, and Moustakas; Braun stays hot at the plate]

Eye Black

From my extremely uneducated point of view on things like this, Hiura seems like he's trying to pull everything which is going to be impossible on outside pitches, especially with that tiny kid's bat he uses.

Hoping he just needs some time to settle in, but until then [sarcasm]he should stop using Shaw's bats that have the hole in them.[/sarcasm]

Imo, Thames should play much more vs right handers, get into a rhythm. Aguilar’s might be hitting again, but not for power, and his sloth like movement on the base paths really hurts the team.

Was expecting to be able to shoot more holes in this but you're basically right.

Thames and Aguilar have pretty even playing time in May thus far, though. Thames OPS .670, Aguilar OPS .840

I think about even playing time is called for for both of them to keep them both in a rhythm. Right now the platoon is basically working, might as well keep it going.

Hader threw just 12 pitches last night. If this remains a narrow margin in the Brewers favor I assume Hader is available for at least one inning. Hoping for more than that is probably pushing it.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

Burnes And Guerra should be good for an inning.

Barnes too!

Hiura's clearly a "to all fields" kinda hitter, so it's a bit strange how much he seems to be trying to pull everything. He just looks off up there, but honestly I can't imagine the nerves of going to the Major Leagues for the first time, combined with Hiura being a slow starter at just about every level he's played at. Hoping it's just that and in a week or two he'll be comfortable.

In the meantime, would probably keep him 7th and let Thames or Aguilar bat 6th, but it's probably not that big of a deal either way.

Gotta bust this thing open. Right on cue, thanks Grandal.

Hmmm... keep Grandal in 2020, trade Pina, have Nottingham do a one-year apprenticeship?

Get us a year closer to one of Fry/Hummel/Henry/Feliciano taking over...

Cooper Hummel? The same guy who has made all of 8 appearances at catcher the last two seasons, and none this year. The one who's also batting .224 at AA?

I applaud your sticktoitiveness, but you gotta just let some dreams die.
