AUDIO via the Shuckin' Around Soundcloud: The featured portion of the full podcast is an extended interview with IF/OF Weston Wilson. Listen to the full podcast, but the Wilson portion begins at the 14:55 minute mark.

Within the Wilson discussion, Wes mentions a E:60 feature ESPN did on his brother. While ESPN does not make that archive freely available, this 2014 news report covers the story nicely as well:

Yamamoto was the guy I was really concerned about in the Yelich trade. Harrison Diaz Brinson was to get the value right but I worried Yamamoto could be that gem piece that we regret adding in.

All the deals last year didn't bother me except Carmona's addition in one of them.

I think low level throw ins like us getting Peralta has scared me into not wanting to add low level upside guys in our outgoing deals.

Biloxi Blanks Jumbo Shrimp In Wednesday Rubber Match

Wilson Homers Again, Bowden Francis Earns First Double-A Win

By Garrett Greene / Biloxi Shuckers

From the Florida Times Union, full article at the link, relevant portion below:

For the next two months, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp won’t have to hear the name Weston Wilson.

They won’t be complaining.

The Biloxi Shuckers third baseman continued his season of domination of the crustaceans, adding another tally to his home run count to beat the Jumbo Shrimp 2-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Baseball Grounds.

In 10 games against Jacksonville this season, Wilson has battered the Jumbo Shrimp for nine home runs. He’s only hit one long ball against any other Southern League opponent this year.

“It’s just one of those things,” Jumbo Shrimp manager Kevin Randel said. “He’s pretty comfortable in the box, and hopefully we change that.”

The latest effort was a no-doubt-about-it shot in the top of the fourth off Jumbo Shrimp starter Jordan Yamamoto (2-4), one that rocketed over the left field wall so hard that the only question was whether it would stay fair. It did.

That was the only offense the Shuckers (20-20) needed, thanks to a sterling outing from 23-year-old right-hander Bowden Francis to inflict the 11th shutout against the punchless Jacksonville offense.

Mudcats Waste Early Lead in 6-4 Loss to Hillcats in Lynchburg

Carolina lost a 4-0 lead in the fifth in Wednesday's game three of four loss to the Hillcats

"Chris Dula was the final Carolina reliever in the game as he pitched a scoreless eighth. Dula faced just four in the in the eighth and walked one. Dula's walk was the only walk issued in the game for the Mudcats. Neither Zavolas, Beckman or Dula tallied a strikeout in Wednesday's loss to the Hillcats."

No K's? First time we've seen that this year? Only time we'll see this all year? Holy balls in play, Batman! (Only one error, a Ryan Aguilar throw from first base.)
