2019-05-13: Brewers (Peralta) at Phillies (Nola) [Brewers lose, 7-4 -- Brewers produce 12 hits, 8 walks, and strand 15 on base; Cain has a 5 hit night]

Eye Black
We all know Thames is a terrible defender... and worse yet they play him in the OF where he might as well be Santana. It's absurd. That's on CC not Thames. Now Aquilar sucks on defense too so when he's not hitting he's worthless as well. Shaw has shown great things for 2.5 years and he's terribly lost like he was down the stretch of his 1st year.

No one's cutting Shaw but assuming he'll be fine is nonsense. He's had half a year of garbage before at the plate. We can't afford a half a year of garbage. Thames is at least doing what's expected of him. Playing RF and pointing at his war because he's out of position is ridiculous.

OK, you win.

If Hiura comes up, they will be.

No, they won't be battling each other right now for PT if Hiura comes up.

T[sarcasm]rue, Thames would be gone.[/sarcasm]

He clearly wants to move Shaw to the backup 1b and play Moose at 3rd.

He doesn't realize that limits Shaw's possible defensive impact and lessens his Dwar. His Owar is terrible right now so he wants to CAN a guy who has career 821 ops vs RHP because he's sure Shaw will be just fine.

Freddy is NOT a starter. He just does not have a pitch assortment.

The more this game goes on the more I disagree with this. He has an assortment that can all be filthy. Ability to locate will be the only thing that could keep him from being a successful starter.

Yeah, pretty much. Except the canning part. Use him to get something we need like another high leverage pen arm. I don't think that precludes Shaw from also getting innings at third and second. Not sure the DWAR argument holds water there.

Not to keep this going, but IMO as long as Shaw shows signs of life by then... IF.... then Thames is the most likely to go.... and by go, I did mean in trade not cut, because he has some value. The biggest reason I think this is the difference in years of control between Shaw and Thames. How they both fit the system now and for the next 3 years. This whole thing in no way means Thames is bad or I dislike him.

To me the longer term control means a lot...

Maybe once we have a 1B that hits we can trade Thames.

Cool. I respect your opinion and will not jump all over your back because you have that opinion, with which I disagree.
