Wisconsin Basketball Thread 2019 - 20: BIG TEN CHAMPS & BPI NCAA Champs!

I don't about the B1G this year. Win against Providence aside, Northwestern looks terrible. Purdue has lost twice to decent teams. Nebraska is about as bad as it gets. Rutgers is Rutgers. Michigan looks to be down. Maybe Maryland, MSU, and OSU will be tough, but no one else scares me one bit. Badgers look awfully mediocre, of course, especially with King a question mark, but who's a safe bet to win lots of games outside the top 3? I think this could be like a 4-bid year. I'd be pretty surprised if it was more than 5 B1G teams in the NCAA's.

Worth noting that with National Signing Week underway, the Badgers did lock down their entire class yesterday (plus a PWO), and the class was ranked 10th by 247 sports and 15th by Rivals, 1st and 2nd in the Big Ten respectively. A very nice class for Gard, especially in view of the 2021 class thus far as well.

Obviously it could change a little as there are uncommitted players out there still, but it should go down as the highest ranked recruiting class for the Badgers.

This year or next year? Next year is currently ranked #1 in the nation. That obviously won't last once the blue chips start committing but still they should end up top 15 assuming all the commits stick.

They're also largely expected to land 2021 4-star Julian Roper, so that would make for an incredibly exciting class.

I can't see that guy's name without thinking about these two:

The computer sites (Ken Pom and T-Rank, anyway) have 8 B1G teams in the top 40. Nebraska and Northwestern will be poor and Minnesota, Rutgers and Iowa will probably be on the poor side of mediocre but everybody else should be hoping to make the tournament. I'll say it ends up with 7 bids.

Great all around game from UW today. The hallmark of the Ryan years was the tremendous development from players throughout their 4 or 5 year career. If a couple of Trice, Reuvers, Ford, Davison, and King are markedly better players as upper classmen than they were their first 2/3 years then UW looks to be in an excellent shape for many years to come. That is the only question mark on Gard's resume, as he is clearly a great coach and the '20/'21 classes show he can recruit too (or the assistant coaching staff can recruit).

Great, unexpectedly dominant win today. I have no doubt Marquette will have a nice season and this win will look very good on a resume come March.

Maybe I'm putting too much emphasis on losing the Hauser brothers, but I had Marquette pegged as the 4th/5th best team in the Big East. I think Villanova, Seton Hall, and Xavier will finish above them, with Marquette and Georgetown as the battle for 4th.

Being able to pull away in the second half made it a pretty nice win I guess, but if Wisconsin is a top 5 team in the Big 10, then it's a game they have to be able to win.

Not a friend or foe of Marquette, but what is their identity? That's what comes to mind whenever I watch an MU game the last few years.

Markus Howard throwing up as many shots as he can and hope for the best.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

So, essentially, PeaveyFury's game at the Y.

Yep, I have a solid launch and pray skill set.

Guess I never thought about it, but that’s a very good point. I can’t name something they hang their hat on. Even the players were an odd assembly of random skill sets.

Potter denied his final appeal. Won't appear in a game until Dec 21.

Well that's about as good as UW can shoot in a half. Wisconsin missed a grand total of 13 shots in the first half...that includes free throws. They were 24/37 on all attempts.
