BIG TEN CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a great comeback. Hard not to think this season is one of the best coaching jobs in recent team history. This team had almost everything go wrong for them this year, and they're the best team in the conference. Unbelievable, and I couldn't be happier for the team and Gard.

This is where not having fouled much really kills Indiana.

To be fair they only lost like 4 seconds. Either way it pretty much comes down to Davison making his free throws or not as to whether they have a shot.

And for a second I thought they got a turnover

Crazy win! Looking at it I think most scenarios have us as the 1 seed. Obviously, mich st and md both losing gives us the 1. If they both win then we have the best head to head record since they split. Have have the 2 team tiebreaker against md. And if it's a 2 team against mich st then it depends on if Illinois ties md which would make mich st the 1 and us the 2.
Remember what Yoda said:

Probably bumps them to a 4 seed

Lots of winning plays down the stretch. Looks like a pretty vintage Badger crew. Play close, defend, win tough games.

This team is looking like a pretty clear 5 or 6 seed. That is basically one game where you'll be a decent favorite and one where you'll be a slight dog. Sweet 16 is very reasonable, though so is first round exit. Of course, none of that matters today. Hang a banner, get some swag, enjoy yourselves!

Never been a big fan of a shared title but what a great run at the end of this season.

How could you be co-Champion of Big Ten with the winning streak and be put on the 5 or 6 line? Committee is looking at recent W/L so the Badgers will be on the high side for that. 4 seed just seems right and a 3seed should they win the B10 tourney. 5 seed with their wins of late I think committee generally sets up for the 12 beating. WI doesnt fit that. 4seed suits them.

The whole Hauser transfer saga seems like a million years ago.

Me either, it looks especially dumb when H2H etc. favor one team. Imagine beating a team twice and then sharing the championship with them.

Then again Big Ten teams don’t play the same opponents in the conference every year so that makes it somewhat strange too.

I don't know if it is what you guys are advocating but having tiebreakers applied for a regular season champion doesn't really make much sense. If we had complete home/away schedules maybe it could work but even then you have 3 way tie issues. We have a big ten tourney and then NCAA to sort stuff out, let the players and those of us who do care about it have their fun.

On seeding: I just don't see the committee making the Badgers a "protected seed." Maybe I am wrong. But November and December count, and there are going to be 18-20 teams with better metrics, predictive and otherwise. Do i think 16 teams are playing better than UW right now? No. Are there 16 teams with better resumes? I think yes. Again, maybe I'll be wrong, and we will see what happens in Indy. But I din't think it's crazy to have this team as a 5.

Best team in best conference...and the conference may be the best, at least top to bottom, ever in its history. Wasn't there 8 ranked Big Ten teams this week? If they win the BT tourney, a #3 is not out of question. Playing late great and against the best conference carries severe weight.

If they win the B10 tourney on top of sharing the regular season trophy, they should get a 2. That’s how good the conference has been this season.

Well, there are many ways to quantify the strength of conferences. I don't think the committee is going to look at this year's Big 10 as the best ever. I can see the argument, this conference is going to possibly send double digit teams to the dance. But objectively, this is a really deep conference but a very top light conference lacking elite teams. There is very little separation between the #1 and #10 team in the Big 10. Six loss conference champions are unprecedented. That's not taking anything away from UW, it's just not going to get them a protected seed, especially when they're likely to split the title with 1 or 2 others.

That said, it's hard to argue that there's any better conference. It's a really weird college basketball year. You've got a lot of high end mid-majors. The Big East and ACC are pretty strong and the SEC has a few teams sprinkled in.

Wisconsin is probably a pretty safe 5 right now unless they get embarrassed in their first conference tourney game. A win probably gets them to 4/5 territory, getting to the conference finals makes them a safe 4, and winning the tourney makes them a 3. I think that's our ceiling, I don't think we can get a 2. I could see a 2 for Maryland or Michigan State if they split the regular season title with us and win the conference tourney, but not us. Just my opinion.

2000 Wisconsin was top 20 in Sagarin and RPI and had played the toughest schedule in the nation; lucky sure, but they were a better team than their raw record and seed. And most of that team besides Penney and Duany were back the next year for Soderberg with another season of development.

Penney was mostly definitely back...he wasn't really a part of the FF team as a frosh...

Penney, Bryant... my bad...

Great win though yesterday. They seemed to have shortened their bench a bit with Wahl and Anderson not playing much. Hopefully they dont tire with the quick turnarounds the next couple weeks

I am really happy for Gard, that's 3 times now he has rebounded when his seat was perceived to be getting warm by a lot of us fans. His 1st year when it looked like the Badgers may look elsewhere in the offseason he surprised us all by getting them to the Sweet 16. After the Hauser debacle he landed one of their best classes in years. And now when things looked so bleak after King left he wins a Big Ten title. As a fan who did question him at all 3 of those low points I am hopeful I have learned my lesson. The guy can coach and he can recruit, now he just needs to break through a little further in the tourney.

Badgers are probably a 5 right now. I’m not sure they can change that without making the final in the Big Ten tourney. That could probably get them into the 4 seed talk depending on what other teams do.

There is no argument for them to be a #2. If they won the Big Ten tourney maybe you could argue they deserve a low end #3...but it won’t happen. That assumes they beat the best teams possible.
