May 10th. Last day of finals at Marquette. Should be hearing about the Hausers soon I'd imagine.

Redshirt Freshman Forward Taylor Currie decided to transfer from UW, leaving Redshirt Freshman Center Joe Hedstrom as the only remaining 2018 recruit.

I’m hoping it’s just because he knows the Hausers and potentially Jalen Johnson will be coming to take minutes on the court.

They are visiting MSU on the 14th. So I expect we'll hear an announcement sometime in the second half of the month. Could be a really fortunate turn of events for a roster that needed some help to say the least.

This decision could really make or break the Badgers chances over the next few years. The cupboard is looking pretty bare.

Honestly I think their decision will make or break Gard, I think he is a great coach but the recruiting is starting to feel like we are becoming Rutgers. Both guys from last year left and weren't that great anyway. Only the OSU transfer and the red shirt center project coming this season. That said I think they are coming to Madison and 2020 is looking like a potential Big Ten title and final four type season.

Personally Gard needs it to not be fired in two years (if not next year). Even then I think he is doomed long term. It isn’t like he is getting them to Wisconsin...it would basically be having the Hausers fall into his lap.

He has done nothing so far in his tenure and the Hausers won’t be a feather in his cap. Hopefully it provides a good year in 2020, but outside of that...?

Houser’s and then Johnson brothers are must for Gard. Team is going to take a big dive if not. They need in state stars to see that it’s a legit option for them.

I guess winning 63% of your games with two Sweet Sixteen appearances and three NCAA tourney appearances is doing nothing then?

At end of day you need to bring in talent. His classes have not been good. Of guys he has brought in has head coach haven’t really shined too much.

2016 class has Trice & Ford. Trice is leader of Team next year. Ford has been very eh.

2017 class has potential to do well with Davidson proving himself, Reuvers making strides but in shadow of Happ, and King

2018 class.... well that’s just a joke... Strickland & Currie both have transferred out and Hedstrom is big guy you hope can be productive

2019 class Only Tyler Wahl who isn’t a big name & a transfer from Ohio St. Micah Potter. He started 16 games & played in 56 averaging 4 points and 3 boards. I assume he plays big role next year. How impactful is the question.

Walk ons and Trevor Anderson make most of the rest of Gard’s recruits.

I will never cheer for them to fail but they are not a fun or exciting team to watch or follow right now. System & coaching will keep the competitive enough to be relevant but they are not making a run anytime soon of this course.

We are hoping for Hauser’s & Johnson but have to accept fact that it is very possible we won’t win recruiting battle for them.

Reuvers

Potter

King

Trice

Davidson

That is solid competitive starting 5 but not world shattering... bench and depth is not a strength. Pritzl, Ford, and Anderson then....

Ok now the rumor is today...or tomorrow.

Sometime before the end of August most likely :)

Homer, what percent chance is there of an announcement today? I'm prepared to come back later if you have a specific time you need to break the news.

Oh I don't have any insider info. I'm just reposting what I've read on a couple of other boards. Someone mentioned a 1pm announcement but here we are at five after and nothing.

Well reading other boards it sounds like Joey to MSU and Sam to UV, they had verbally committed to Gard last weekend. If true like I said above this may be the beginning of the end for Gard. Davison/Reuvers/King class should keep them competitive short term but if we can't land at least some of the top in state recruits we need to find someone who can. Probably unfair to blame Gard here as these kids were going to make their own decision and were very familiar with UW but like Stone/Herro and the first time around with Joey not closing the deal sets the program back as they back off other targets.

I saw those reports as well, but I guess I'll believe it when I see it. I have a hard time believing that two brothers who have done literally everything together, including taking their visits this spring, are suddenly set on playing different places.

On a much more serious note, apparently Badger assistant Howard Moore was in a horrible car accident this weekend, resulting in the death of his wife and daughter. Certainly thoughts with him and his family and hoping for good news regarding him and his son's condition.

Very interesting reports on the hausers. Shocked that they are splitting. Was hoping they would both go to Virginia since I’m honestly not a fan of either the badger or Michigan state program and realized that Iowa was not going to happen as a school in their top 4

The news about Howard Moore certainly puts things into perspective. What an awful tragedy.

Well I guess they can always change their mind again but it's being pretty widely reported now. My guess is they just decided it was better for their NBA prospects to go elsewhere.

Terrible news on Moore, sounds like his son is OK but JS says Howard was in a coma yesterday morning but his injuries were not life threatening.

What an absolute sad failure and look for the Wisconsin program if true. Two guys pretty much joined at the hip, wanting to play together, and parents really wanting them local to watch them choosing to not take the option the have all that. It was a golden opportunity for Wisconsin and almost a slam dunk once no other program had two scholarships.

Pretty shocking they would rather go off to different states and not play together over a short drive to Madison where they could play together. Man, brutal for Wisconsin. Shall be interesting to see if that is the case.

One more year and time to see if Coach Smart is relieved of his coaching duties and willing to come home to UW the following year...if true.

I was kinda hoping for another UVA early exit from the tourney to really throw some more coals under Bennett's seat, but that didn't work out.

If he didn’t leave for Marquette, I’m not sure he’ll leave for Wisconsin. He went to Texas for his wife.

He grew up 5 minutes from Madison, which is why many think he'd be interested in ending up with the Badgers.

I don't really understand the interest in Smart. Is it just because he's a "name" and grew up in Madison? His teams have chronically underachieved relative to his recruiting since he got to Texas.

Shaka Smart is a nice coach, but he isn’t a great coach. I think a lot of coaches in the B12 can be judged by how they do against the likes of Kansas. Smart is always out coached by a wide margin. A lot of B12 teams can give Kansas a run for their money, but Texas...not really. Considering the recruits he has had he has done a poor job by quite a lot.

Watching him a lot I don’t see the interest in him.
