Sure seems Claudio only faced lefties he'd be really good. Check stats: 440 OPS vs lefties.

IDK I guess I'm just not sure on using Albers at all there with the top 3 guys available. Obviously the non double switch was the start of it. Hopefully it works out and we still win, but maybe a mistake there regardless

Yeah that would've surely been Burnes' inning there had he not been pulled for Gamel. Albers made 1 bad pitch in his 2 hitters faced, so let's not get too carried away crucifying him. Contreras had a great AB and hit a tough pitch for a single, and Bote fouled off a bunch of good pitches until he got an outer half fastball to punch up the middle.

Man that was a garbage pitch to Russell. He’s an 8th hitter, but he’s still a pro. Have to execute.

It's really not Claudio's fault, he can't get righties out, never has, and shouldn't be used against them. With his arm angle I would imagine his stuff looks baffling to LHB but looks like candy to RHB.

Yeah, his usage is baffling to me, sometimes. The brass must see something that makes them think he can have success vs. righties, though.

For Loogy his .730 OPS for righties really isnt that bad either

B-R.com has .793 OPS vs RHB.

Not great, but not terrible.

Yaz has been in a bit of a slump. Good time to break out of it.

I'll take it.

It's so much fun to watch victories playing good baseball while the opposition plays bad baseball. This is a fundamentally sound, quality baseball team a la the Giants in the early 2010s that won 3 championships.

Good point. Almost had the K on that AB too but it popped out of the catcher's glove. Who knows, maybe he gets them out from there if Yaz held on.

Also, I'd guess th 3 run led to Albers and them gambling a bit so to speak. 1-2 runs maybe they go Junior right away

Who is our mop up reliever? I'd rather save Guerra. Houser? Smith?

Against the Cubs I dont know if I go to a mop up reliever unless we are up 7 or more. Go Guerra again and then maybe save Hader if needed but the Cubs can score in bunches.
