Shrugging off a rainy night

Revised series schedule set for Missions, Express

By Jerry Briggs / San Antonio Missions

My goodness, Jerry squeezes a lot into his notes columns, and there wasn't even a full game to discuss here.

Read why Corey Ray is back (but gone again), and we get a Jimmy Nelson sighting, which is not only wonderful in a baseball sense, but is fantastic because it means his twins must be doing well.

Remember when it was going to be Fresno or San Antonio (sorry, Nationals). It's working out well, isn't it?

Mainly because we get Jerry Briggs ;).

VIDEO via WLOX: Wow, that Trent Grisham HR went a long ways, and we're reminded of RHP Tyler Spurlin's pitching motion (Welcome Back, Tyler!).

Has any farmhand had a rougher first month of the season than RHP Braden Webb (especially when measured to expectations?). This was the 2nd time in four starts he's failed to get out of the first inning. Managers love that. An ugly small sample of 15 innings, to be sure, but when you're starting (or piggy-backing Freddy Peralta's brief rehab outing, as Webb did), your sample is supposed to be much larger.

Box: Wilmington 4, Carolina 3

Thanks to a big one-batter assist to RHP J.T. Hintzen, another impressive outing (and length of outing) for RHP Drew Rasmussen - Lather, Rinse, Repeat for him, the plan is working...
