Counsell said there will have to be more pitching moves before tomorrow's game and that goes beyond activating Freddy Peralta to start. Hart threw 36 pitches and Burnes threw 40. Not going to be easy to keep Burnes now.

Putting Peralta back in the rotation was a bad idea.

 

Problem is if he's not a starter, he's not a MLB pitcher.

 

Overall, their pitching is just a hot mess right now.

Part of the problem is the scouting reports and Pitch selection on hitters.

That and pitching mechanics and getting pictures to repeat release points is the main function of a pitching coach and right now our pictures mechanics are a mess and our pitch selection is a mess.

Of course some of the blame falls on the players. But if your pitching coach doesn’t bear any responsibility for an entire staff of hot garbage...what is his responsibility?

The "so" is that if he's not out there missing spots is his excuse, you could use that excuse for anybody and by that logic, you may as well not have a coach because the coach is never out there missing his spots.

I never said he’s doing a great job, we have absolutely no idea what he does when working with each individual pitcher. The players are absolutely not executing though, and I would say that most of the blame falls on the players for that, not just some.
