Braun didn’t miss that ball because of the beer. It is a triple unless you are trying to claim a beer shower slowed Braun down from getting the ball and throwing it in. Maybe you want to claim the cup messed with his ability to see the ball...but looked like Braun just failed getting under the ball at the wall for his jump.

Fan should be thrown out regardless though...bit ridiculous. Must be expensive seats they don’t want to boot him out of.

While it looked like Braun was going to miss is, we never would know. There was some beer coming down before the ball got to Braun. Regardless, once the beer splashed all over Braun’s hat that should be a dead ball in my opinion. You never know how that could affect the play.

What was the play with Braun getting a drink dumped on him?

Braun was trying to catch an Alonso hit ball near the wall and a fan dumped a beer on him while he was going for it. The liquid hit him in two separate splashes of beer, the first was smaller and the second soaked him. Braun pointed to it has he went for the ball he missed, and Alonso ended up with a “triple” that was then upheld after a review.

I would think there could have been an effect if Braun was actually under the ball, it instead he was well right, reach over, and still missed the ball by a good margin.

We should probably just play better baseball, including defense and pitching in this case, so we don’t have to hope for a beer shower bailout.

Thanks, looks like an ejectionable offense to me since he is clearly reaching into the field of play and causing something to make contact with a player. Can’t umpires rule plays like that as an “out” if they feel like the player was going to make the play if not for the interference?

He didn’t touch the ball...which is obviously auto interference. After that it seemed like a judgement call on whether it effected him catching it or getting the ball after missing.

Which they decided no.

If it’s a back issue, put him on the IL and be done with it. Don’t mess around with a back issue and make it worse. Bring up Hiura, Gamel plays everyday in the outfield with Perez as the backup. Moose, Shaw, and Thames can split time between first and third (with Thames strictly at first or on the bench).

For as tough as offense has been to come by today the Brewers are still down just two runs. Hopefully they can get something on the board and put some pressure on the Mets.
