2019-04-27: Brewers (Woodruff) at Mets (Syndergaard) [Brewers win, 8-6 -- Offensive production and Josh Hader overshadow bullpen woes]

Sometimes you just have to take the good with the bad.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

From MLB.com...

Christian Yelich's home run in the fourth inning Saturday against the Mets was his 14th of the season, which ties him with Albert Pujols (2006) and Alex Rodriguez (2007) for the most home runs all time before May.

He has three games remaining in the month of April (after tonight) to break the record.

I have a feeling Belinger might have a stake in this record as well before all is said and done.

Sometimes you just have to take the good with the bad.

You take the good you take the bad you take the rest and there you have.....the facts of life.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Nice to catch deGrom AND Thor on off days...

Either that or we are just that good!

deGrom sucked in his two starts prior to last night with the "elbow barking" and Syndergaard outside of one start has sucked all year.

That's very often a harbinger of things to come. Velocity is still there, command starts to slip and then TJ surgery comes.

Of course it's looked like that was coming a half dozen or so times with Justin Verlander in his career, so maybe not.

Anyone else think Thames looks leaner this year?

Obviously it's wayyy early to say what will happen but it's worth keeping in mind that we do have a $7.5M option on Thames next year. If he could give us a decent season and Aguilar continues to flop this badly it's not totally implausible that we could end up picking the option up.

Remember just a month ago when many looked at Thames and Anderson as dead weight that we could hopefully just drop on someone?

I'm glad we still have both.

I've thought about that quite a bit. It's a credit to them both to bounce back strong after losing their starting spots. Heck, Thames even lost his bench spot to Granderson at the end of last year. They are both talented players who've had quite a bit of success and their resilience is certainly showing this year.
