Say what you want but Stearns’ reputation will take a huge hit with this team. 18 million dollars on a catcher and a nickel and dime pitching staff

The $18 million on Grandal was money well spent, IMO. What difference making pitcher would this team have acquired this off-season instead for $18 million?

Not just “at Night” anymore.

We could have had Miley for 25% of that.

While I really like the Grandal signing, it’s an all-in move since it’s only a one year deal. That contradicts the decision to move the young guys to the starting rotation and letting them grow. In that regard I think this season will be the dark spot on Stearns’ resume.

I wouldn't mind having Miley, but we would certainly be worse without Grandal.

There is absolutely nothing worse than watching hitters hold their bat on their shoulders when behind in the count with two strikes, and the pitch comes right down the middle.

What happened to the good ole' days of guys choking up and protecting the plate with two strikes?

Pointed out a week ago that we really haven't played good ball this year and was told our record is all that matters. Well, we're not going to have that leg to stand on much longer.

Right. We haven't played well, against an extremely difficult schedule & will still have a winning record after tonight's game no matter what happens.

That's a good thing.

A better thing would be to be playing better & have a better record, sure.

But with how we've bern playing & who we've been playing, our record could be a whole lot worse.

That it isn't is good.

Unless you'd prefer us to have an even worse record?

No, but I am concerned that some of our projections were just too optimistic. Braun might be done. Aguilar might be a 1 year wonder. We just might have expected too much from our young pitchers.

But he's had a pretty good week!

Signing Grandal didn't stop Stearns from signing Miley.

I’m glad they have Grandal too; but what’s the best case scenario for Grandal a 3 WAR player?

The step backwards by the pitching staff will likely more than offset what Grandal adds and he’ll leave as a free agent after the season meaning it would have been better to stick with Kratz and Pina and spend that 18 million adding talent to the pitching staff
