I would guess it’s to limit his innings since we will need him down the stretch whether it’s in a starting or relieving role.

The last out of the Nashville 5th was a groundout to Erceg.

 

His turn at bat did not come up in the 6th, and he did not return to the field in the bottom of the inning.

 

Maybe he tweaked something making that play.

 

If I think of it this evening, I'll check out the MiLB.TV archive for any hints.
