Eric Thames

Bulldogboy
His strike outs are down and his walks are up, he isn't chasing more than in the past, so it isn't like he has looked lost at the plate or anything. He just isn't hitting the ball as hard this season. My guess is it is a timing thing.

Not a problem just starting Thames more until things work out though, that is a completely reasonable path to fixing this issue. You have depth for a reason.

Strikeouts being down could also potentially be part of the reason the hard hit rate is down though. He seems to be feeling for the ball more, so far this year. That'll lead to more contact, but worse contact. I'm not sure that's better...

That's what I was getting at when I said it seems he's scared of the ball. He's kind of swinging gingerly, standing a little away from the plate, and not stepping into it. He seems reluctant to commit to a good swing.

Of course Thames is just as much of a headcase some times, but what are you gonna do. May as well play the LHB more if they're both going to be so inconsistent.
