2019-04-20: Dodgers (Ryu) at Brewers (Anderson) [Brewers win, 5-0 -- Anderson pitches 5 scoreless innings; Yelich adds a pair of home runs]

Eye Black
20 out of the past 29 Brewer games have been against the Dodgers and Cardinals. There have been some tough moments, but wow, what a way to end last season and begin this season. Incredible performances in front of full houses at Miller Park while many teams struggle to draw 20,000 a game.

And Shaw, Braun, and Aguilar won't be slumping the whole year... And once this is done... time for the Crew to feast.

A Major League Baseball team, to my knowledge, has not been named for a single player since the Cleveland Indians became the Naps in honor of Napolean Lajoie.

Perhaps it is time to change that.

The Milwaukee Yelichs doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, but the ball sure does jump off his bat. I guess that mini slump he was in is a thing of the past. Just unreal how locked in he is.

Oh, and the Bucks are up 13 at the half, 67-54.

It almost seems like a guaranteed lock that Davies and Anderson will be the Brewer's two best starting pitchers this year, especially since it seemed everyone wanted them run off the team this off-season.

That's baseball.

Looking at Yelich's stats right now, my head wants to explode. He had a 211 wRC+ coming into the night.

In 22 games, he's hitting .361 with 23 runs scored, 4 doubles, 13 triples, 31 RBI, 14 walks, and a slash line of .459 OBP/.880 SLG/1.339 OPS.

Using the Fansided WAR calculator 2.1, with average defense and base running, and NL averages of .321 OBP and .419 SLG, he has about a 253 OPS+, and is worth 2.1 WAR.

This is ridiculous. :laughing Why does any team pitch to Yelich at Miller Park? We might start seeing Barry Bonds walk rates soon.

Hopefully in a few weeks, we can get the while 2017 rotation gang back together and Jimmy Nelson can say "hold my beer"...

Chase had an ERA under 4 and a WHIP under 1.2 last year - and couldn’t crack the postseason rotation. This year that stat line is good enough for ace status.

Wow. Second game on our 10 pack tonight. The first was the Sunday against the Cardinals with Yelich’s walk off double, so we’ve seen some good moments this year.

So now the worst the Brewers can be against the Dodgers for the year is 3-4, which isn’t too bad. When they get their pitching staff healthy they have by far the best and deepest 25 man roster in the NL. They could (should?) win that division by 20 games unless the Rockies can put up a fight.

Good to see someone other than Yelich get a big hit, but the lineup is still scuffling as a whole. It’s hard to tell if Aguilar or Shaw is in a deeper funk. Braun isn’t much better, but the 3 run HR gives him a pass for the night. That brought him up to 4 for his last 39.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Great start by Anderson followed by huge innings from no Hader bullpen.

Yes, let's hope this is the beginning of good outings by Anderson. It would be huge for us if he can be an effective starter again.
