Boom, we have a game all of a sudden. Wilkerson getting involved in the pitchers raking.

Also, Wacha is better than ya'll are crediting. i think he was a highly regarded prospect and was up by 21.

season ERAs: of 2.78, 3.2, 3.38, 5.09, 4.13, 3.2

Feel like of all the young pitchers Burnes has the highest upside, can't give up on him yet. He's also faced 3 of the best offenses in the NL so far this year. Give him another few starts and see what he does. Not like we have a better option in AAA until Jimmy is ready anyways.

Upside is great when you're a 68 win team with no expectations and can experiment on the fly. But when you're a hopeful contender who missed the WS by 1 game, you can't just have a white flag starter 20% of the time.

And sending a guy to AAA to work on things is not giving up on him.

At this point, its obvious that the four-seam fastball is not working for Burnes. It's being teed off on. Whether he's tipping it, or throwing it too much... it's time for him to work that out some.

There's a place for his heat, but he needs to mix it up more, and the exact mix can be figured out in San Antonio.

Are we already in the Cain/ Yelich/ Grandal and everybody else offense? I thought braun was going to be better this year?

Late to the party. A couple thought.

1.I think it's time for Burnes to figure it out in San Antonio. I guess it's possible he's tipping his pitches but it seems like most of his dingers given up is a result of bad location. Replace him with Guerra or Chase. Even he wouldn't give up that many dingers.

2. I am thoroughly convinced that the only reason we got swept by the Angels is because we were forced to use a DH.

Would be really nice if we could take advantage of the Cardinals inability to pour it on up to this point.

This is my thought too. Wilkerson did such an excellent job stopping the damage, and add on the wildly unexpected 2 run hr....would be quite something if we could rally and come back in this one.

I am very happy to eat a huge helping of Aaron Wilkerson crow, at least for today. He's been phenomenal. I still don't think he's any more than a back end of the rotation/pen-type arm, but he knows how to hit his spots and get the most out of what he has. Perhaps he's earned himself a longer look.
