Huge fingers-crossed on the health side of things for Rasmussen, but if he stays healthy getting him in the 6th round is going to go down as highway robbery. At minimum he's got a ceiling as a stud MLB reliever.

What's the over/under for when he makes his first appearance in AA Biloxi? Monday?

OK....someone needs to slow down my hype train right now with Rasmussen, because I feel like I'm already starting to view him as one of our Top 2-3 prospects, and perhaps a Top 100 guy overall by the time mid-season adjustments are made. What am I missing here? Does he have the arsenal to be a big league starting pitcher, or is he pegged as more of a reliever?

98 on the gun today with his FB? And 90 on the slider.....wow!

Rasmussen was clocked up to 98 with his fastball, 90 with his slider.

Rasmussen will turn 24 in July, so he is far from a young, green prospect. That velocity is going to play. The fact that they are aggressively promoting him seems to indicate a fast-track toward the MLB bullpen. Could Rasmussen be this year's Corbin Burnes?

With that arm and as others have mentioned his age, I think they continue to aggressively push him through minor league levels until he reaches a point where he struggles - mainly to see if he can adjust to those struggles. If he doesn't struggle, well then you minimize bullets wasted in his arm before he reaches Milwaukee.

The number of guys on the planet who can approach triple digits with their #1 and their slider hovers around 90mph with that kind of tilt can probably still be counted using 1 person's fingers and toes - the downside is that's likely the reason why he's had two TJ surgeries already.

Obviously a great fastball. He was also known for having a good change-up and a developing slider that was inconsistent. Three solid pitches would put him in the mix to be a starter, but that arsenal definitely screams high-end reliever.

OK, I'll slow down the hype train. While he threw three innings today, he only threw 35 pitches. I'd be willing to bet that he's starting now because he's on a pitch count and he can come into the game completely and easily warmed up and go until he reaches his pitch limit.

The list of guys who have had TJ twice and returned to become an effective starter isn't a long list. I'm going to wait until he's up over 60 pitches to get real excited. He could be a real weapon out of the pen, even a long reliever/Hader-lite. But recovery-wise, he isn't out of the woods yet.

There's a big distinction between having two separate Tommy John surgeries and having a TJ surgery and then needing to go in and correct it.

Pardon my ignorance, but did he have two separate surgeries, one in HS and then another one after he was drafted, or was there an issue with the first one?

In any event, most of the guys who have two TJ surgeries usually don't come back and get their stuff back, they usually don't ever come back throwing in the upper 90's.

That's not to say anything you said is wrong of course. But man...this type of stuff is more fun for me than any part of Brewers baseball other than when they have the type of team they have right now. I'd be even nicer if Kirby was a left handed counter part to what Rasmussen is doing, but these low risk, huge reward type picks are so fun when they work out.

Oddity: It's the morning of April 18th, and their has yet to be a single transaction involving Biloxi since the start of their regular season.

Not the start of the season many envisioned for RHP Braden Webb.

Early roster analysis indicated this wasn't going to be a star-laden team, and a 6-7 record is "hanging in there" from a W-L perspective for now. There are opportunities to stand out on this roster, guys will need to take advantage.
