2019-04-15: Cardinals (Hudson) at Brewers (Peralta) [Brewers win, 10-7 -- Christian Yelich gives away a puppy, hits 3 home runs, tallies 7 RBI, makes sliding and diving catches, sheepishly obliges to curtain call]

Eye Black
I'm firmly convinced Arcia could go 4 for 5 with 3 dingers and 8 RBI, and people would still talk mad crap about him for making an out and call him names and whatnot. Dude is seriously the BF.net whipping boy.

I know I’m in the minority around here but I love watching him play. He has frustrating moments but he’s just so talented. Still very young too.

You are not alone.

They needed someone to hate on following Villar's trade.

Arcia is fine now, and he'll be fine in the future. He gives you high-end defense, and just enough offense to stay relevant.

Khrush is a better LF than that clown STL has.

Last year Card fans thought they traded for the better Marlins corner OFer. LOL

Just thought of this too. They thought they got the better deal, giving up less for an equal player. What was debateable then is a laugher now.

It's always the SS. I enjoyed watching Yuni B play, he wasn't very good but always had a smile on his face. Had some clutch hits as well.

You do know you just killed an positive vibes on this board, right?

Many on this board have treated similarly flashy players like Villar and Carlos Gomez very similarly. Some aren't big fans of players showing emotion and flamboyance on the field. Granted those guys had legit warts that you could complain about, but I never thought they deserved the hate they got. Nyjer Morgan can probably be grouped in that category too.

To be fair, Ozuna was coming off a 6 WAR season. Yelich hadn't hit for this kind of power before, but it was probably at least in the realm of possiblity that he could be a 25 homer guy getting out of Marlins park. I don't think anyone (and I mean ANYONE) predicted he was suddenly going to be Barry Bonds.

Perez is probably next in the line of succession for this high honor.

And, not to be that guy, but whipping boys are technically people who are innocent of any crime who have to take punishment on behalf of someone not allowed to be punished. A 53 OPS+ is anything but innocent.

[sarcasm]I’ll have to go back and check the original trade thread, but I think I may have said something along the lines of “the next Barry Bonds” in there somewhere.[/sarcasm]

Referring to Ozuna? :laughing

I'm a little surprised they went right to Hader with a 4 run lead. It wasn't like he was in desperate need of work.

After his last outing against LA where it was obvious he had bad command due to an extended gap between outings, giving him an inning here to get back on track makes alot of sense. He gave up the HR to Ozuna, but he pitched much better.

Problem was he warmed up already, so may as wee use him. Gettinf fully warmed up is basically the same thing as an actual appearance.

Yelich gave a "my bad." Perhaps he didn't call Arcia off. Obviously, the outfielder has priority, but maybe Yelich wasn't sure if he could get to the ball and never called off Arcia.

Horsefeathers. That damn Arcia is a ball hog. He had no business going out there. :angry He is a good defender but somebody has to tell that clown that he isn't the only guy out there to make a play.

You seem upset.

I would have been upset if that dufass injured Yelich.

It tends to be the SS too since the Brewers have only had one good one for multiple seasons since Yount and that was Hardy.

He is an exciting player and suberb defender who I enjoy watching but he is still a ball hog. As I just said I would have been royally **ssed if Yelich got hurt on that play. Fly balls like that are for the outfielder.

Yup, Yelich is struggling...

Well, he apparently thought so. He said he went out four hours before the game for special practice with the hitting coach to make some adjustments.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Let’s leave “horsefeathers” and other mangled swearing connotations to filthier corners of the baseball internet.
