Golf 2019

Whoa. Tiger Woods possibly adding another green jacket. Incredible.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Tiger fan or not, yesterday's round was really awesome to watch. I caught the back 9 with my 10-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter, who have never watched a minute of golf in their lives, and by the end they were cheering and jumping up and down when Tiger hit that putt to make bogey on 18. Tiger likely has some good years left if things go his way, but I doubt if there will ever be another athlete who has been so transcendent and has changed the game as much. What we saw was an absolute legend recapturing the skills that made him that way again.

It's amazing how him winning another one all of the sudden makes talk of catching Jack seem realistic again. It certainly wasn't like he was a long shot this weekend, when he is healthy he is still Tiger Woods and has been contending on the back nine on Sunday 3 straight majors now. Yesterday was a lot of fun, 4 guys in the last 2 groups hitting it in the water on 12, Molinari who seemed so unflappable chokes... It was amazing how quickly things were changing over about 3 holes then all of the sudden Woods had the lead outright and you just knew it was over.

Pretty amazing to take that all in this weekend. I've always liked golf but I didn't sit and watch as much as I do now. I really wish I would have soaked in all of Tiger Woods dominance when I was younger. I watched it, but I wish I would have paid more attention. Appreciated it more.

It was a special moment in sports history this weekend. I hope he continues to challenge for, and win, majors.

Could you imagine if he won the first two majors, or somehow, first three??? If he got the Grand Slam, I think the world would blow up. Obviously there is half a percent chance for something like that happening, but fun to dream about.

I have nothing against Tiger and it is incredible that he won another green jacket but why do the networks in every tournament he is in show us every stroke of his even when he isn't in contention to win? A couple of weeks ago he was 10 strokes back with only a handful of holes to go and they had to show his every move while ignoring other players who had a legitimate shot at winning it.

It's because Tiger's popularity transcends golf. He was easily the most popular player during his dominant stretch, and his fall from grace actually made him more popular, as it humanized him. People love redemption stories.
