Thames as 1B insurance seems probable now. Aguilar concerned me last year in the second half and now it continues.

Or Shaw.

If Shaw to 1B eventually happens, I wonder if Hiura is in their thoughts. He's been solid in AAA so far, but it's like management told him in spring training "We're the Brewers ... don't worry about striking about, because DINGERS!"

Agree. Left handed options are a plenty for 1B especially when Hiura is ready later this year to play 2B and move Moose to 3B and Shaw to 1B if both Thames fails and Aguilar continue to struggle.

People forget that Albers was a stud for the Nationals in 2017, and was the pen's savior in April and May last year. The guy can pitch. Yeah he had an injury-induced rough stretch last year, but I don't understand where this idea came from that he is useless.

I think you answered your own question, second half ERA was 27

When I said the other day that the Brewers might be giving up over 100 runs in these 13 games against the Dodgers and Cardinals, that may have been optimistic.

Maybe the Brewers can score 100 themselves and win a few games.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I get it. Recency bias is powerful. I guess I just feel that guys with a track record of success should be afforded the chance to right the ship before being dumped.

It was a brutal stretch to be sure ... it would have been comical if he was on another team.

Yes, but 27 is an usually high ERA for a MLB pitcher

You'd think the umpires union would be concerned about the safety of these plate umps getting hit in the face all the time...maybe they should do something about that...

Come to think of it, the field umps are in danger too...can't have that...

I’ve never heard of an automated strike zone getting a concussion. Just sayin’...

So what happens if two umps in a game get hurt? I mean, we’ve lost one in several games this week.
