Milwaukee Bucks 2019 playoffs Rd 1 vs Detroit Pistons

DuWayne Steurer
I wasn't implying they're going to be a paper tiger because they have been in the past, I'm saying that I don't think they're really much better. I wouldn't trust Toronto against the top teams in the West or to beat the Bucks. If they played Philly in a series I would peg Philly, personally. It's all gonna play out before us, but for me the 76ers are what is in the Bucks way of winning the East...again, oddly enough.

Pat C reminds me of Darvin Ham a little, except Darvin had no 3ptr and Pat doesn't quite have Ham's thunder dunks.

But a highly athletic, fan-favorite, more-value-to-us-than-other-teams type player.

Ha! After writing that I just googled him to make sure I spelled his name right and found out he is one of our assistant coaches. I had no idea.

I just don't see the Raptors as a lot better than the post season paper tiger they have been. They had a net gain getting Leonard I guess, but I'm just not really scared of them. The night they beat the Bucks, they shot 45% from 3. And still didn't really blow them out by any stretch. I just don't think they can bring that 4/7 times.

I don't like it when people hold the Bucks' history against them, so I can't hold Toronto's history against them either. With Kawhi and Green, they're a different team with a different personality.

The Bucks were dominant most of the year, so every team relies on hot shooting to beat them. Are they likely to shoot the 3 well enough to beat the Bucks 4 times? No, but I think they're more likely to do it than any other team in the East.

I think Philly and Boston are a little over-rated for having more so-called star power, but Toronto is just better.

Siakam is also a much improved, and very athletic 4 that gives Toronto even more versatility. They have the 2nd best two way player in the East, and a pretty impressive supporting cast. If we play them, I think it comes down to our 3 point shooting. They're the team best equipped to slow down Giannis IMO....in as much as he can be slowed down. Siakam, Leonard, Ibaka and the Gasol that can still actually play will make it a bit tougher for him to get 30.

Golden State is still obviously the best in the NBA. Cousins going down probably makes them even better. He was a poor fit there.

Thanks!

I dove into why those two numbers are so wildly different (bball-ref and stats.nba.com).

It looks like bball ref is based on box score stats and tries to estimate "how many points that player would score in 100 posessions", while the NBA numbers are based on how the team actually performs when that guy is on the floor.

I'm not sure why the scroll over definition says "estimate". It's actually based on real stats:

https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/ratings.html

I think estimate comes from the fact that they are extrapolating out to 100 possessions. I think they use 100 because that is roughly the number of possessions in a game. Another way to think of it is 1.22 points per possession.

My "scares me" team keeps changing. Over the past few months it's been the Warriors, Celtics, Sixers, and the Raptors. Today it's the Raptors. As CHL said, hey have multiple people who can match-up against Giannis in different ways. Thing is though, Giannis still had big games vs them this year. Unlike the Sixers, Raptors are truly a team and seem to be focused.

Raptors also have maturity of Pros. I hate the argument against the Bucks that since they haven't been here before means they won't win, its just not supported by history at all. So I won't make that argument for Philly that since they have some young guys they can't win. It's that two of their star players seem to still act like HS kids out there in their attitudes. Kawhi will have that focus at all times you want. Then add in guys like Green, Gasol too. Lowry has typically been shaky in the playoffs but still, these guys aren't out here to screw around and have fun. They're focused on winning and that's it.

Stearns and Chacin sitting together at Game 2. Not often you see GM and players attending events together.

Saw that too.

Was trying to figure out if Stearns got the tickets & was like "I know who I'll ask to come with, Jhoulys Chacin."

Or maybe vice versa?

Or maybe they got tickets independent of each other, one got there, then the other sat down & was like "Oh, hey, what's up?"

Evidently there were several Brewers at the game last night. They also kept showing Rodgers and Patrick court side. If you wanted to rub elbows with the swells I suppose last night was the game to be at the Fiserv Forum.
