I came into the offseason thinking the Packers had to fill six major holes- both safeties, RG, 2 Edge guys, and a slot receiver, and build depth on the OL, at TE, etc. They clearly addressed both edge holes, both safety positions, RG, and TE/o-line depth through tonight. I'd expect depth picks in the secondary/RB/WR yet tomorrow as well.

A pretty good offseason for the Packers as they reload. I'm still hoping there's a veteran slot guy they can grab to help with the younger guys, but they've really addressed a lot of needs.

I probably wouldn't have listed G as they're generally easy enough to find, and thrown in CB. But they got 2 established pass rushers, they shot for the Stars in a Clowney like talent and then signed a really solid, smart safety(just don't compare him to Burnett) and a guy who has a scouting report that you could swap out for Earl Thomas' when he was entering the draft.

The ONLY things they haven't done that I'd have liked is picked up a good slot WR'er and another long corner.

I almost kinda like all the negative grades on the Packers draft. Last year the Browns were bashed for selecting Mayfield 1st overall with some experts letting us know that he didn't have a 1st round grade for many teams. So these reactionary drafts are usually not worth a whole lot.

Still...would have preferred Justin Layne there at CB over a one dimensional TE who isn't a GREAT athlete....but maybe he'll end up being a stud.

I thought Gary was a odd pick, high risk, not an immediate need. I am very much warming to the big picture as the draft unfolds. Still not sold on Gary, but like the package as a whole.

I wish they'd stop talking about how he didn't have the same production that Wincovich or whoever had. They were lining one guy up at DT..

And then another guy I liked, Jaylon Ferguson.

Long wait tomorrow. Lots of good players left, a few I like.

G Hjalte Froholdt Arkansas, two words Jason Spriggs.

CB Jordan Brown CB South Dakota State, Good size, good not great speed.

ILB Ben Burr-Kirven Washington, undersized overachieving tackling machine.

My favorite, WR Hunter Renfrow Clemson, just seemed that everytime a clutch reception was needed, he was the go-to receiver while at Clemson. There's our slot receiver!

Really liked the selections in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I’m hoping the Packers trade into the 4th round and draft WR Riley Ridley. I’m expecting the Packers to look for a replacement for Cobb and I think Ridley could be that guy. He can also do some damage on special teams as a punt and kick returner if the Packers decide to go that route.

The more I sleep on this draft, the more I like it. It’s obvious they’ve gotten better on both sides of the ball. I’m still bummed about the loss of the two 4th round picks. According to the draft value chart, it would probably take a 5th and a 6th to move into the 4th. Both 6’s might net a 5. The 7th has very little value, but a suppose they could use it to sweeten the pot or move up a few spots.

I'd just stand pat at this point unless someone you really like is plummeting. No point in moving into the 4th just to have a 4th...

I'm warming to the Gary pick. He is going to be a boom or bust guy but it seems that he has a pretty high ceiling and a decent explanation for lack of production (i.e. blocking scheme). Perhaps with Pettite, there is more growth room. Not to mention that word is coming out that he didn't have a labrum tear and shouldn't need surgery immediately after all.

Just for kicks, Gary vs. Bosa and Mack (at draft time):

Mack: 6'3", 251lbs, 33 1/4" arms, 4.65-40yd, 23 bench press, 40" vert, 128" broad jump, 7.08 cone, 4.18 shuttle

Bosa: 6'4", 266lbs, 33" arms, 4.79-40yd, 29 bench press, 33.5" vert, 116" broad jump, 7.10 cone, 4.14 shuttle

Gary: 6'4", 277lbs, 34 1/8" arms, 4.58-40yd, 26 bench press, 38" vert, 120" broad jump, 7.26 cone, 4.29 shuttle

There is certainly more to being Mack than numbers, but that is an impressive comparison for being 26lbs heavier. Bosa is more agile but otherwise is trailing athletically too.

If... If Gary's lack of production was scheme and/or coaching (blame Harbo), he has the potential to be a steal at #12. Of course, that is the definition of boom/bust...

For the rest of the draft, they could use more depth at ILB and RB. And would we consider drafting a kicker this year?

At ILB, I don't know much about players beyond WI at this point in the draft. I've always been a Connelly fan and wouldn't mind seeing him on the Pack. But more recently, I've been considering what Van Ginkel could bring to the ILB. He was "ok" at OLB, but nothing special. But he has good size/speed and coverage skills that might make him a much better ILB. Kind of a poor man's Anthony Barr (sorry for using foul language there...).

For RB, I think you start looking at gems from DII or maybe athletic guys that didn't get much chance at one of the DI schools. We are looking for a third string guy, so you could probably focus on one skill (scat back, short yard hammer, etc..).

I think its a bit early to replace Crosby, but there are signs of his aging creeping in (i.e. shorter kickoffs). And he makes $6M, so if they wanted to go get another FA, he might be a target. I know they got some scrub for competition (or maybe saving wear & tear on Crosby). But drafting one in the 7th would signal a bit more seriousness to it. But I have no idea what type of quality there is out there.

Scroll down to read the description of his strengths. Adept at finding space, comes back to the ball, great at going down to get low balls, excellent field awareness; tell me that isn’t Aaron Rodgers’ dream slot receiver? That sounds like everything a Packers or Patriots team could want. Maybe he isn’t going to be the next Wes Welker, but a Cole Beasley seems reasonable as a comp. And the guy hasn’t met any lights that were too bright or a stage too big in his playing career, and that’s got to count for something.

I know the Pack has a lot of young receivers to develop, but if we wound up with him in the 5th or 6th, I wouldn’t mind at all.

Ridley's my hope at this point. Last I'd checked, he was still undrafted. But he's got that smooth route running ability, he's a mature route runner. It seems like the one thing they're really lacking from this WR'er core is a quick slot guy.

Bears just nabbed Ridley. Nice pick for them here.

Damn...wasn't paying attention.

Next best choice IMO, a CB like Amani Oruwariye from Penn State. A long guy with solid speed. I feel like after we got Alexander, we have kinda ignored the fact that we are still two starters short. Even if you go with Tramon in the slot and then I guess hope King can hold up outside, CB's are like pitchers, you're gonna need a few extra.

Mack Wilson, a really good coverage LB'er from 'Bama would be nice in the 5th as well.

Hunter Renfroe might end up being a great NFL WR'er, but to me, he's a college legend and not much more. I don't know if he's quick enough or has the YAC ability in the NFL to measure in this offense. IF he isn't successful though, it sure as hell won't be because of nerves or work ethic.
