Not when almost none of those sacks were the result of him actually beating his guy and they came in bunches as he cleaned up other guys pass rushes.

A "win" is considered beating your guy in 2.5 seconds. Fackrell almost NEVER did that last year. And I think it's just as likely he won't get another 10 sacks in the rest of his career than he ever gets 5-6 sacks in a season again, much less 10.

Got stats to prove it?

PFF had Fackrell rated as the #44 edge rusher in the NFL last year. Considering that there are 32 teams in the league, he graded out as a starter.

I'm guessing Fant to the Vikings.

Yeah, that feels about right given how this night has gone thus far.

I'm saying OL for the Vikings. Taylor, Dillard or Ford.

Was right about OL - but didn't see the center being selected.

Solid addition for the Queens. Nothing sexy, but adding a guy who can anchor the OL is a good move.

walterfootball.com live draft grade:

Green Bay Packers: Rashan Gary, DE/DT, Michigan D Grade

I can't really get behind this pick. Rashan Gary is insanely athletic and physically talented, but he was a huge disappointment as a player in Michigan. He also has some off-the-field concerns. There was speculation that Gary would fall to the 20s, which would've been a reasonable spot to select him. Not here, though. This is a major reach. If Gary couldn't produce in college, why would that suddenly happen when he has an NFL contract?

Edit: And piling on:

Miami Dolphins: Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson A- Grade

The Rashan Gary and Christian Wilkins selections are just one spot apart, yet they couldn't be more radically different. The Packers took a guy who was a major slacker in college, whereas the Dolphins just picked a high-character player who was a team captain at his school. Oh, and Wilkins was pretty damn good as well! This is a great pick that must be in the "A" range, as Wilkins will be able to replace Ndamukong Suh's production. The only reason this isn't an A+ or an "A" is because I felt as though the Dolphins had so many needs that they had to trade down. Still, I'm a fan of this move.

To say that sentence is disturbing is an understatement. SMH!!

Gary has a large enough frame that he could easily be a 3-4 DE, particularly if he lines up next to one of the Smiths as an edge rushing OLB - given the Packers' offseason OLB signings, I'd guess Gary winds up just maintaining his weight right where it is. Daniels, Clark, and Gary as the 3 base DL is interesting with Smiths bookending them.

Packers saying he will start his career in the OLB room.

I would be more confident if they said he was an OLB. That statement seems to imply they’re not 100% sure where he fits.

That's basically what Pettine does. That's what Za'Darius Smith is. He lines up as a DE on passing downs.

I'm not worried about his talent, position...he's more than fine there. I'm worried a guy as talented as him didn't dominate in college. It's not that rare, but it's concerning.

Walter does perhaps the least amount of homework of any of the internet draftniks, so I don't place a whole lot of weight on his opinion.

Well you bring up PFF a lot. Here is the title on their writeup on Rashan Gary:

Why Rashan Gary is not a first-round talent

I just put a NFC Central grade out in 1st round.

Lions:A

Vikings:B+

Bears: C

Packers: D

Lions: B - solid player, slight reach?

Vikings: B - unsexy, but addresses a big need

Bears: Incomplete - MIT says the Raiders won the trade

Packers: you nailed it

Yeah, the fact that he has a total of 12 QB hits and 10.5 sacks? That's like a Baseball player having a .900 BABIP.

Plus...you know...eyes.

Oh, and this blurb from PFF;

The second thing that went wrong for the Packers was the pass rush. Kyler Fackrell may have recorded 10.5 sacks, but no player was able to get 30 total pressures this past season other than Clay Matthews who finished the year with only 3.5 sacks.

I find it hilarious the Vikings draft a center in round one less than two years removed from hearing nothing but glowing praise for Pat Elflein as being their longterm answer at that position as recently as this past fall up here.

The Vikes' O-line continues to be a mess - this guy might help solve some of their issues, but it doesn't take away from the fact the line has been their bugaboo for quite some time.

Absolutely.

You can't really evaluate a pick when it happens. You go back 2-3 years down the road and you see all the misses in the 1st round.

Wilkins however was a near can't miss with a very high floor. Taylor was also. Gary....I won't be surprised no matter what he ends up doing. He could end up being a non-factor or he could end up being a superstar. I'm not all that confident he's going to be the later at this moment, but I think Gute deserves the benefit of the doubt.
