Infielder Blake Allemand returns to the Missions active roster, filling the spot vacated by Jake Petricka's departure. Gives San Antonio a better-balanced pitcher / position player mix.

 

Also, catcher Skyler Ewing has been placed on the San Antonio 7-day injured list. While there is a possibility he's hurt, we may now be at the point of the season where the "Rocky Mountain paper roster" becomes the "phantom IL".

RHP Jose Espiritu has been transferred from the DSL club to the AZL Gold roster. Recently signed C Nader Garcia replaces Espiritu on the DSL roster.

 

RHP Franklin Hernandez has been placed on Rocky Mountain's Restricted list as he continues serving his PED suspension.

 

INF Julio Mendez has been placed on Rocky Mountain's 60-day IL. You'll recall Mendez was the player who was hit in the chest with a pitch back in 2017 and nearly died on the field due to a resulting cardiac incident.

Brewers reach into the independent ranks yet again, RHP Dylan Prohoroff gets his contract purchased from the Windy City Thunderbolts (Crestwood, Illinois) of the Frontier League, as per the league's transactions page.

 

An 8th round pick of the Pirates in 2016 out of Cal-State Fullerton, the now-24-year-old opened his pro career at an aggressive full-season ball placement at low-A West Virginia, where he repeated in 2017, combining for 61 appearances, all in relief.

 

Prohoroff opened 2018 with the same affiliate yet again in 2018, but only made three appearances. He'd spend the balance of the season on the disabled list, haven't determined the cause just yet.

 

Pittsburgh released him in spring training this year, and then Prohoroff latched on to the independent opportunity.

 

Prohoroff has a pending assignment to the Timber Rattlers, it appears.

Those were some pretty impressive numbers he was putting up in the Frontier League where the talent is pretty comparable to the Midwest League. He should be able to continue having success in Midwest League. Played at top program in college too.

I just realized we have had neither a Carlos Rodriguez nor Larry Ernesto sighting yet this year. Andres Melendez neither. Used the Search function in the Minor League forum but nothing.

 

Did I miss something?

Been a week since Maryvale Gold's Larry Ernesto ($1.7 million at the 2017 July 2nd international deadline) has played, was injured in the first half-inning of the season.

 

AZL Brewers Gold Top of the 1st

 

Larry Ernesto doubles (1) on a ground ball to right fielder Cesar Idrogo.

Felix Valerio reaches on a throwing error by third baseman Jothson Flores. Larry Ernesto to 3rd.

Offensive Substitution: Pinch-runner Zane Zurbrugg replaces Larry Ernesto.

You are also correct, just-turned 18-year-old 2nd-year Venezuelan catcher Andres Melendez ($325,000) and 18-year-old 2nd-year Venezuelan OF Carlos Rodriguez ($1,355,000) have yet to debut in Maryvale.
