2019-04-05: Cubs (Quintana) at Brewers (Woodruff) [Brewers win, 13-10 -- Brewers tee off on Quintana early en route to tallying 15 hits and 5 HRs in slugfest]

OMG enough with the pouring it on posts. I've tried to avoid the topic but I will just give my two cents on this. Nobody can deny that there have been alot of games over the past few years where they have jumped out to an early lead only to put up zeros for five six innings at a time, allowing the opposition to make a game of it. I won't go so far as to say they need to "pour it on", but I would be happy if they could even manage one run every other inning from the third inning on.

This quote applies to every single team in the league though, that is why it is so silly. Yes teams get off to leads and don't pad the leads all the darn time, all teams in baseball do it. This isn't some thing unique to the Brewers which is just absurd to believe.

You have any data to back that up?

Kinda seems like you should be the one supplying the data in this scenario.

Yeah, but when does Hernan Perez, the 14th pitcher on the team, get some work?

perez is a utility infielder. If he appears on the mound more than 3 times this season, something is wrong.

The pitcher is an infielder technically

You see Albers getting lit up like the proverbial Christmas tree?

The more you understand the game the more absurd opinions like this are. When you start to think about the game at level 2 or 3 or even 4 these kind of things just don't matter anymore.

:laughing :laughing :laughing

Almost had me on this one!

And Perez would be doing better?

Perez isn't a pitcher. He shouldn't be pitching. Especially in a game with the lead.

Albers didn't get "lit up like a christmas tree". He gave up a homerun to Hayward. Homeruns happen from time to time.

That Bote hit was quite possibly the weakest hit ever.

Maybe besides that Luis Gonzalez world series winner off Rivera

Agreed. I mostly just have a sudden hate for Bote after his nonsense extension and cubs fans thinking he is amazing as a result. Talk about covering not signing anybody by extending their version of Perez for 15 million.

You have any data to contradict it? The Brewers were well above average in the 1st innings of games last year. They were below average in the 2nd inning but well above average in the 3rd inning. They were below average in the 4th inning. They were about average in the 5th and 6th inning. All of those are considering tOPS+ There is no pattern here at all, it is just random noise. They were a team that jumped on pitchers early and then had inconsistent results from that point on against starters just like everyone else. They were stronger than most in the 8th and 9th as well which feels just random.

Albers is going to either be an integral part of the bullpen, or Boone Logan’d by June.

When I was a kid they still used to show the original Tarzan movies... I thought the worst possible thing to happen was to be tied to two trees that were bent together then released killing the person by ripping them apart... Somehow watching Matt Albers pitch makes those memories seem not so bad...

The offending poster tailors his whining on a nightly basis to whatever thing the Brewers are or aren't doing and pretends it is a problematic trend. There is a reason people ran with "pour it on."

Mr snapper sir, still waiting for an apology with your PT Barnum comment towards me, which I did not make. Instead you make another offending comment about me, I guess that’s “just pouring it on night”.

Seems a bit odd for Maddon to use Brach extensively and now Strop. I get it was 8-5 when Brach came in, but he has been the only guy that hasn't really been lit up.

The way it stands nkw, the Crew will see the best options in a struggling BP in a game in which they hold a big lead. That is a pretty good outcome as long as there isn't a meltdown 9th inning.

EDIT: I guess Kintzler has been good too, but he came in at 10-5. Boy, that pen is a mess right now. Not saying it will stay that way, but it is ugly.
