2019-04-03: Brewers (Peralta) at Reds (Castillo) [Brewers win, 1-0 -- Peralta pitches a gem ~ 8.0 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 11 K]

Eye Black
If he could add a 3rd pitch, I think Peralta's closest comparable in my mind would be a young Gallardo.

Wow, that's two totally different pitchers. Yo had a dynamite changeup and curveball as a rookie, as was known for pounding the zone with all 3 pitches. He later added the slider and pretty much eliminated the changeup. Peralta has trouble usually throwing strikes, and is often wild near/within the zone, rarely hitting spots. I definitely like the no-walk version of Peralta, but I'm not expecting it.

I have always gotten the jist Arcia thinks his defense is just going to carry him on an MLB roster as long as he wishes. I don't know, all last year and to start the year he doesn't really look like a guy who is sporting a .550 OPS. Always goofing around during games messing with fans when he should probably watch our pitchers at the plate to learn something.

I just don't get how he still rocks the same horrid approach at the plate and bad swings. He has never made sense to me and it may never make sense. Never would I have thought Arcia would be so bad at the plate to deserve to be replaced at SS. All he needs to be is below average hitting wise to make himself an okay to solid starter.

I know age isn't a great excuse, but I think we forget that he's only 24. Some immaturity is probably expected.

I wonder if the Brewers have a behavioral therapist that works with the team. Baseball is such a mental game. Season is long. Seems like a no brainer.

Meant to reply to this during the game, but my account wasn’t activated yet. I had an old account and just never migrated it so I’ve just been lurking without posting for a long time, but figured it was time!

The Brewers do employ a sports psychologist. I happen to know him personally. He was a former college prof of mine. Obviously he can’t disclose anything specific, but have heard that people would be amazed at what goes through guys heads at the professional level. Sports psychology is fascinating and I would guess almost all teams employ a psychologist or players hire one personally.

Anyway, looking forward to contributing to the forum once again!

Cubbies' bullpen doing what cubbies' bullpen does late...so much fun to watch!

Watched the last few innings of that game and it was an utter pleasure to witness yet another Cubs bullpen implosion.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

5 BB’s in the bottom of the 8th! Hope they continue the trend at Miller Park this weekend

Kimbrel is noticing too...

He'll be a Cub soon enough.
