Just hoping for a game that doesn't lead to another "sky is falling" topic on the Majors board. This place definitely takes losses much harder than it celebrates winning. An all-timer win on Opening Day produces an in-game of 13 pages. Loss number 1 on the season and the in the in-game goes 22 pages. Something to think about.

Go Brewers! Go Woody!

Might have more to do with the fact that many people can't take a random Thursday afternoon off and post on a message board vs. a Friday night, IMO.

That's just the nature of humanity/The Internet, I'm afraid. People love to complain about any & everything, with or without provocation.

There also seems to be a decent contingent of "fans" that would rather see their team lose so they can say how right they were about the team lacking instead of seeing their team win & having to face up to the possibility that maybe they aren't as smart as they think they are.

& for the record I'm not complaining about others complaining or people who think they know more than those actually in charge, the whole thing honestly cracks me up, if it didn't I woulda checked out long ago.

In 2001 the A's finished April 8-17, they made the playoffs.

In 2006 the Twins finished April 9-15, they made the playoffs.

In 2006 the Padres finished April 9-15, they made the playoffs.

In 2007 the Yankkes finished April 9-14, they made the playoffs.

In 2007 the Rockies finished April 10-16, they made the playoffs.

In 2010 the Braves finished April 9-14, they made the playoffs.

In 2014 the Pirates finished April 10-16, they made the playoffs.

In 2015 the Rangers finished April 7-14, they made the playoffs.

The 2019 Brewers are 1-1 so far.

When they won after the exciting ending of the first game less than 20 pages. Last night more than 20 pages with the loss. I've had my share of complaining but it is far too early for me. Now here's Woodruff's turn to make Stearns right in going with three young starters instead of signing or trading for a starter.

It is, but these first two days have been ridiculous, even for this place. I guess a byproduct of heightened expectations, but good grief. Can we AT LEAST wait until tax day?

The sky was falling last year too when Chacin started slow his first few games. It was the worst signing ever, lol.

That’s the emotion of sports with high expectations.

We split with Mikolas and Flaherty, and now give the ball to Woodruff and Burnes. That’s a win in my book. We’ll see how it plays out, but if we go .500 this year in games Mikolas and Flaherty start against us I think we’ll be in good shape.

I think it's funny that so many posters here want to dictate how the in game threads go. Positive, negative, thread length, etc.

One thing I enjoy about the IGT is the fact that they can be impulsive, they can be ridiculous, and they can be flat out crazy.

I just think that taking the "fandom" out of these threads is a mistake. Good fans, bad fans, and even great fans react to certain situations on the field differently. Why must we ridicule each other on a daily basis when those reactions don't match up with our own?

It's fine for the in-game threads to be "one liner" posts and emotional reactions. I think (and know) that where a lot of people's issue lies is where they become overwhelmingly negative. We can have an error or bad play and have 24 posts about what an idiot/bonehead/moron player X is, and then a big homerun or great play, and 3 posts mentioning how awesome the homerun or great play was.

Again, people can post what/how they want (within the community guidelines), but when there's a lot of posters saying to the mods "wow, the game threads have become overwhelmingly negative and just aren't fun to post in anymore", it's the mods duty to look into it and say "yeah, 33 posts about what a moron Counsell is for a certain pitching move or bullpen management or how awful player X is or repeated use of words like "moron" and "idiot" in reference to players we all want to root for can make a game thread kind of tedious.

When someone then says "this is getting a bit old to see the same posts night after night", and then THAT turns into personal attacks and tit-for-tat back and forth nonsense between a bunch of grown adults who can't talk about baseball without saying "I HAVE TO BE EMOTIONAL WHILE WATCHING SPORTS" it gets kind of silly having to say "Can we have a fun game thread that people want to post in?"

I don't think that's a lot to ask.

I don't think anyone is saying that the game threads shouldn't be impulsive, crazy, emotional or anything else, it's just that they read as overwhelmingly negative, even in a season when the Brewers won more games than any team in the NL, and won a division crown.

My favorite example from last season is on May 16th, 2018 the Dodgers lost their 6th straight game. All six of those consecutive loses came at the hands of the other two worst teams in the National League, the Reds and Marlins. The loss to the Marlins that day dropped the Dodgers overall record to 16-26. That record tied for the 2nd worst in the National League with the Marlins, and just barely ahead of the Reds.

So after 42 games, more than a quarter of the season, the Dodgers had the second worst record in the National League.

The 2018 Dodgers went to the World Series.

The 2008 Brewers were 23-27 on May 25th

The 1982 Brewers were 22-24 on May 31st.

All three of those teams made the playoffs.

Granted, they weren't ten games below .500, but that's well into May with losing records.

Blowing a gasket over a play really doesn't bother me. Even "We need BP help from outside" doesn't bother me. Accusing Mark Attanasio of being a con man and comparing him to PT Barnum does bother me, because it's stupid and incendiary and just said to get a reaction. As does "this game is us coming back to reality." It's stuff that doesn't really do anything for conversation and it's just the pouting of a man baby.

Debating going tonight or tomorrow. Oh decisions.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

If it were my decision on the either/or, I’d want to see Burnes make his first mlb start.

You make a very good point. I was thinking that Sunday lineup might appear but we really don’t have bad bench options.

The Brewers have seven left handed batters in the lineup tonight (and six in a row).

Dakota Hudson's career splits (albeit a small sample size):

.406 OPS allowed vs. Right Handed Batters

.759 OPS allowed vs. Left Handed Batters
