Your 2019 San Antonio Missions

Mass Haas
Brewer Fanatic Staff

We will begin to see some formal minor league roster announcements soon. The formal announcement will come directly from the Sky Sox, not the Brewers. All four minor league affiliates will likely send out their press releases within an hour or so of each other once the Brewers have given them the official go-ahead to do so.

Opening Night is Thursday 4/4!

NOTE: Last season, the affiliates released their rosters on Tuesday AM, just two days prior)

Feel free to link to any formal notices you see here.

Often we learn via farmhand tweets, who has been assigned where, prior to the formal affiliate announcements. We'll link to any of those posts in this thread as they come out.

As you might know, we use the "Your 2019" threads to post and link to feature stories that are outside the scope of game activity covered in the Daily Link Report.

These threads have become among the most popular for viewing here, and we look forward to kicking them off formally.

Please don't speculate here at this time, this is an anxious time for many on the farm, and unfortunately we're also likely going to learn about more player releases in the next few days, in addition to those players excited about their assignments.

i don't see any news of donnie hart having been designated for assignment by the dodgers, so presumably, up until today, he has been in oklahoma city prepping with the dodgers' affiliate--where the missions also happen to be right now. i would think he'd be in uniform for san antonio tonight.

AUDIO via FM 102/1's Soundcloud: "Brewers fans! Get to know the San Antonio Missions lineup because they are the new AAA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Today is their opening day and Jon Adler had the chance to catch up with coach Ned Yost IV to talk about this year's team, his road to coaching and his dad, the former manager of the Brewers."

Lucas Erceg makes an appearance in FanGraphs Daily Prospect Notes for 04/10. Excerpt...

Erceg is one of the more prominent early-adopters of some of Driveline Baseball’s hitting philosophies, which has made him a bit of a visual focal point for reasons other than just talent evaluation. He’s a pretty extreme fly ball hitter who will show power to all fields, but he hasn’t performed on paper. In my opinion, it’s a selectivity issue more than a mechanical one.

Erceg is really crushing it this year. 983 OPS including an encouraging 404 OBP. Its early yet, but maybe a sign things are starting to click.

The brewers have Hiura, Ray, Erceg, and Dubon all knocking on the door either this year or next. That's a nice wave of hitters. Not to mention Z. Brown, Supak, and Houser.

i know that the missions have had to deal with having a shortage of healthy primary outfielders and the lack of a genuine first baseman, but should we be concerned that 40-man roster players like corey spangenberg and tyler saladino (primarily infielders) are getting so much time in the outfield and/or first base and jacob nottingham (our most hopeful catching prospect) is getting so much time at first base?

not really, this was all said at the end of spring training as the plan--versatility!
