The season is setting up to remove the final postseason hurdle, jinx, curse... whatever you want to call it. Beating the Cardinals in a head to head match up in the NLCS. I'm not sure if it would be sweeter to win the division or do it as a wild card like they did to us in 2011.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

19 games over .500 (89-70) and are one win away from a playoff spot.

With that win, the 2019 Brewers move into sole possession of 9th place in regular-season wins all-time. With 1 more win, they would tie a 3-seasons best record of averaging 90 wins. With 2, it will be the most successful run in Brewers history.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

1978-1980 the averaged 91.3 wins/season, the best 3 year stretch in our history.

Even if we win out to 93-70 (with division tie breaker win) we would have a .564 W% over the past 3 years, still bested by the 78-80 run that had a .565 W%

18 out of 20? Are you kidding me???

Obviously our optimism is still focused on THIS season, but if the Brewers can keep up the same pace next season they will finish 2020 with a 146-16 record.

Psh, greatest decade team ever when we put up a 1460-160 record for the 2020s.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

Facing a RH in the wild card game, thanks!

Revenge on Dodgers, revenge on Cardinals, and taking down the all world Yankees as World Series champs with Uke calling the the final pitch in his final game as the Brewers radio broadcaster......

"I love those soft pretzilla pretzal buns!.... All right here we go, 2-2 count to Stanton who homered in game 3. Brewers hanging on to a one run lead after the go-ahead home run from Braun. Brewers at the edge of the dugout and I know everyone listening on the Brewers Radio Network is hanging on to every pitch..... Hader looking for the sign and here he comes...HAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY struck him out with the bender and the Brewers have done it! The World Series trophy is coming to Milwaukee! How about that one folks!!!!!

I'm not crying your crying, let's go!!!

This path to the World Series Championship is going to be so satisfying!

Beat Scherzer in the WC

Beat LA in the NLDS

Beat the Cards in the NLCS

Beat the Yankees in the WS

I believe a prominent ancient civilization & a major motion picture starring Woody Harrelson among others, predicted the World would End in 2012. Which is interesting because...

The Nationals return to relevance started in 2012. Since then they have won the 2nd most games in MLB, this is their fifth postseason in that span. In their previous four trips, they have never advanced beyond the NLDS. Beating them in the Wild Card will keep that streak alive.

The Dodgers are the only team to win more games than the Nationals since 2012, they've made each of the last seven postseasons, they've spent in the neighborhood of 1.5 billion in payroll & have zero rings to show for it. Beating them in the DS will keep that streak alive & be some kind of poetic revenge for last year.

The Cardinals have won the 4th most games in MLB since 2012 & have been an eternal pain in the posterior, but, keeping with the theme, they too (three?) have not won the World Series since the Mayans or whoever ran out of room on the stone tablet. Beating them in the CS will keep that streak alive & be even more poetic revenge for 2011 & pretty much our entire tenure in the NL.

Rounding out the top four in wins since 2012 is the Evilest Empire of them all, the Yankees. Much like the Dodgers, they have also spent in the neighborhood of 1.5 billion in payroll with nary a ring to validate said expenditure. Who better to keep that streak of expensive ineptitude alive than the plucky, upstart 2019 Milwaukee Brewers?

Personally I think the weekend worked out fine. At least Counsell was able to save the guys he needs to combat the Nats. Had they played Monday and lost, they would have been it a very tough spot trying to beat Scherzer. Now he can use any and all of the arms that got them to this point and even if Scherzer is on, they can wait him out and beat up their shaky pen.

The season is over and in my opinion can focus on building a true World Series potential roster. I’m a lot more optimistic than most going into next season. I think resigning Pomeranz and Moustakas are starts. Risks for different reasons, but I like what they add.

Two straight playoffs. Yeli back. Hiura looks like he will be a stud. Braun Cain & Grisham form a really nice rest of OF. Cain is coming off career bad year.... that’s not him at plate, should rebound. Let’s see what Stearns can do with IF & C! Hope Grendel & Moose.

Woodruff continues to get better. Burnes is far better than he pitched this season & think he can prove that again. Knebel back in pen.

Stearns has history of making team better & filling it with quality depth. Excited what he does to get us back to playoffs for 3rd year!

Woodruff, Suter, Davies, Anderson & Nelson looks like a good foundation for the starting rotation....especially if Jimmy can regain his form with a healthy off-season. Add in Guerra, Peralta, a hopeful bounce back from Burns and the return of Knebel, and the good part of our bullpen looks better than they had going in to the season this year.

EDIT: ...and I assume they’ll try to bring back Pomerantz & Lyles as well.

This team got hit hard by the injury bug late. Moose’s throwing arm kept him out the lineup for about a week (and showed up in the throwing error), Braun showed he was hurting when he caught that ball on the warning track, Cain didn’t have the same range in the outfield that we’ve seen while healthy....and Yelich would have kept the game at least tied if he had been in RF tonight.

I love that this team gave everything they had, and the pain of losing the way they did is going to take some time to fade away. It just wasn’t our year.

Sincerely,

Spring Hopes, Atty.
