Take Saladino off the list and add two catchers and you have your 25 men though they have already said Anderson will be in the pen so you can probably take Spangenberg off the list too.
but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

SP: Chacin, Peralta, Woodruff, Burnes, Davies

RP: Hader, Claudio, Guerra, Barnes, Anderson, Albers, Williams, Petricka (The last two would be the ones to give way if a new addition was made)

C: Grandal, Piña

IF: Aguilar, Thames, Moose, Perez, Arcia, Shaw

OF: Braun, Cain, Yelich, Gamel

Spangenberg, Saladino and Nottingham the first guys on call in the minors, should all see time in the majors. Nelson, Houser, Fields should be the first names up on the pitching side.

That bull pen sure doesn't look like much of a strength once you take Knebel and Jeffress out.

yuk

Kimbrel would sure be a boost, and if / when they come back, imagine THAT bullpen!!!

That's how I see it. Will be interesting to see if a different reliever sneaks into that list of 8.

I screwed that up! The closer situation is worrisome. Does Petricka close?

How about Counsell manages a full 9 innings? Rather see him play matchups for a complete game rather than assign a rigid role for one player late in 25-30% of the games.

I could describe the bullpen last season a lot of ways, but rigid is not one that makes sense at all. What are you even complaining about here?

So you don't think how he handled a, shall we say, unique pitching staff as well as how he juggled the infield playing time wasn't him managing a full nine innings?

Last night the Brewers had a SSH conference call with Stearns. One of the fans calling in was baffled as to why Grandal was signed. Pina and Kratz were two of the best players this person had ever seen behind the plate, and he seemed genuinely angry with Grandal being on the team because he saw him pass a ton of balls in the NLCS.

I wish fans were screened before they were allowed to call in. Same with being allowed to post about the team on Twitter and Facebook. Like maybe giving a "Frequently asked Questions" form or "These Questions Are Stupid, Don't Ask Them" form.

Package the two in a trade for lottery ticket

I think it can be dangerous to have recency bias when it comes to player performance. Albers was terrific in 2017 with the Nationals, and over the first two months of 2018 with the Brewers, to the point where he basically took over a bullpen stopper role after Knebel's injury. I personally think its imperative to see if that Albers is back in 2019 before dumping him. Barnes has also proved serviceable. I love Houser, and I think he's going to make an impact this year, but I don't think its a good idea to destroy our pen depth on top of losing the guys on top.

Ok, very very very short leash with Albers, imho age done him in and the shellacking he experienced AFTER he completely recovered last year shellshocked any confidence he had prior out the window. Barnes is Not serviceable since he scrapped his 99 four seam. Strand % abysmal, ok at mop up duty. He needs traded cause we could maybe fleece a gm enamored with his power stuff.

That post was based on what we're likely to see, and they've already said Houser will be stretched out in AAA. Fields won't pitch in camp, and thus won't be ready. He's also on a minor league deal, so he doesn't have to take up a 40-man spot until needed (Though I presume he has an opt-out at some date, just not necessarily opening day).

With Knebel, Wahl and (at least for a while) Jeffress down, it makes no sense to even further deplete bullpen depth. I'm not a big Barnes fan either, but he has put up ERA and FIP of around 3.50 for his career which is good for a minimum wage guy with options remaining. Albers had a sub-2 ERA as recent as 2017, and that 28% HR/FB rate and .347 BABIP aren't likely to continue. If he's been looking decent in ST (Numbers look fine, haven't seen him myself) there's absolutely no reason to cut him (Not going to get much, if anything, in a trade) now, when his potential replacements are on minor league deals or have options remaining.

I don't even see Petricka being on the 25-man roster, much less a closer. He hasn't had a save in 3 years and was horrible the last two years. 71 IPs - 98 hits allowed - 49 runs - 22 BBs and 6 HBPs - a WHIP of 1.67..... He is awful and getting worse.

Albers was very good before getting hurt last year. If he can return to form he is vastly superior to Houser. You're right about Fields, except he should replace Petricka, not Barnes. I don't see how a guy like Petricka, who has been absolutely horrible for the last two years, could be on the team ahead of Fields.

Petricka shortest leash, so don’t fret he’ll in all likelihood be replaced by fields. Unfortunately in my opinion the Brewers will give longer leashes to Albers and Barnes.
