Who is your draft crush?

So after a billion and one mock drafts before the Combine even begins... who is that player that you are really watching and hoping gets picked by the Packers?

For myself, I'm really leaning towards TJ Hockenson. Drafting him at #12 is way to high and its starting to sound like #30 might be too low.

None of the OLBs that are expected to be available at #12 really interested me. No one seems really "special" at that point.

ILB White could be interesting, but keep getting a Hawk vibe (high floor/low ceiling) from him.

Hockenson seems like a very special player compared to TEs in the draft and in the NFL. It wouldn't break my heart to trade down to #20, grab him and pickup an OLB that falls to #30. In pickup another OLB with the #2 or #3 pick we add by trading down.

I would like to see them trade back a touch into the first and get a pass rusher and then a OL at #30. I think the ability to add another 2nd or 3rd rounder would be nice. If they really love a pass rusher then maybe keep the first pick and use it there. I think there are many great pass rushers to grab in the later first or second round so that high pick may be useful to trade out of.

Parris Campbell. Hoping he makes it to pick 30. Worried that he'll run a ridiculous 40 time and shoot up to the mid 1st.

That's a good one....but with WR'ers, if there's questions about their route running, you know that's likely going to be a long process with Rodgers. He could be a Percy Harvin type threat though.

I like Jaylon Ferguson if he makes it to our 2nd round pick. His stock is less likely to rise too much since he won't be allowed to do drills at the combine, but he was a machine in college and he has the size and burst to fit in nicely as hopefully a EDGE ready to produce from day one.

Wow. Noah Fant just ran a 4.51 40-yard dash as a 6'4" 249lb TE.

He looked darn impressive today. Would he be worth taking at #30 if he lasts that long? Or Smith? Hockenson? This looks like a decent TE class this year.

Since I think our edge/OLB is already one of worse in league. Mix in Clay maybe not back. Perry should be cut with money being put to better use, & not sold on Gilbert or Fackrell as answer.... My dream is an EDGE guy. Some I’d be willing to move up for.

Some gaining steam:

Sweat with Senior Bowl then blowing up at Combine, Burns weight up to 250 & ran 4.57, and Gray could who ran a 4.59. At 6’4 277 he could be great as hybrid DE, OLB

1 Bosa

2 J Allen

3 Sweat

4 Gray

5 Ferrell

6 Burns

7 Polite

Tier 2

8 Ferguson

9 Winovich

10 Ximines

Draft is unpredictable. We have 2 QBs almost locks now in top 12 & still two more who could sneak in. Oliver, Williams are near locks then a guy like Lawerance or Wilkins could slip in to top 12. Some team could jump on DK Metcalf due to absolute freak potential. OLs like Taylor and J. Williams seem like Top 10 pick. Devin White & Hockenson also in running.

I think there are 7 worthy Edge guys for pick 12. At least 2 (Burns & Polite) should make it to us. If not still strong options.

Off board by 12 for sure: (IMO)

Murray

Bosa

Allen

Q Williams

Haskins

Gray

Oliver

Hard to see any of those guys drop... leaves a lot of options though.

MLB Devin White could give us a legit stud at MLB. Him & Martinez make that a big strength for our Defense.

OL Jonah Williams could be above average RT or All Pro guard, J. Taylor gives us a really good RT (slide Bulaga inside)

DL Christian Wilkins gets overlooked & shouldnt. At 6’4 315 & freak athlete, mixed with Clark & Daniels, we have a dangerous front who can get after a QB.

TE Hockenson I haven’t been sold on yet for all hype (prefer Fant or to wait til 2nd or later to take advantage of loaded class. However, if he is as good as people say. A great TE is never bad to have.

New Head Coach. Expected to run the ball more. Best Tackle available at 12. As of 2/9 Walter Football listed Jawaan Taylor, Greg Little, Cody Ford, and Jonah Williams top 4.

You want Rodgers to buy in to the run game scheme. 1st pick a tackle that not only helps protect him when passing, but helps produce some running lanes for a RB. Was Bulaga the last Offensive player drafted 1st? Looking, nope Derrek Sherrod but at 32, Bulaga the season before in 2010. Tired of going in to a season with Bulaga as the RT knowing he has an injury coming some point that season.

After that, I don't care what they draft. I don't think the top 4 guys I listed above had a very good combine overall(if even all 4 participated) but, they have game tape to judge before that and maybe can slide down a few spots while still getting the #1 OT off their board now with these showings.

So YoungGeezy, is there anyone you don't have a crush on? :laughing

For options at 12? Nope I’m pretty high on a lot of guys who have chance to impact this team! Lol it is a deep draft at positions we need!

At 12 I’d narrow it down to Sweat, White, and Wilkins. Hard not to love any of those 3!

Later in 1st/2nd Adderley is a guy I want! Leadership, work ethic, and play all make him a great choice.

If you want a OT who fits the zone scheme (same installed in Tennessee) and is an outstanding pass blocker, Andre Dillard is the guy. Taylor is very good athlete as well & could be pretty good fit as well. Little has spent most of college underachieving or not being consistent. Ford, Williams, and Risner are all guys who many scouts think are very good inside guys at next level. Ford is the one I think sticks at tackle. Very good in zone scheme at UO. With the weak OL class, think you get the sure thing on defense at 12 when board is loaded & see what OL fall to 30. It’s very possible one of Dillard, Williams, Risner, or Ford are there at 30. Risner or Williams instantly solve our RG problem, maybe swing over to RT once Bulaga is gone.

Cajuste of WVU & Scharping of NIU are true tackles from zone systems to target in 2nd round

And that has nothing to do with him being related to a HOF DB from the Packers glory days!

I do think it'd be cool to end up with him...but the way things work, the Bears probably will.

The guy who scares me the most is Sweat. He's stock is probably going to shoot up a bit now with his ridiculous 40 time, but he seems like he has more bust potential than most. Certainly big upside as well.

Wow. Noah Fant just ran a 4.51 40-yard dash as a 6'4" 249lb TE.

He looked darn impressive today. Would he be worth taking at #30 if he lasts that long? Or Smith? Hockenson? This looks like a decent TE class this year.

I've expected Fant to be a 1st round pick for quite some time now. For all the love Hockenson gets as a blocker, Fant is the guy who stood out to me while watching Badgers - Hawkeyes games. (Though as I look at it, Hockenson had 125 yards on 3 receptions - with a long of 46, so even his shortest catch went for over 30 - while Fant had 2 TDs on 3 catches in 2018. Neither did much of anything in prior seasons against the Badgers.)

With the Patriots having a potential need for a receiving TE when/if Gronk retires, I just don't see Fant falling outside the 1st round. If he's on the board at 30, it's going to make the case for an OL or Edge rusher (whichever we don't get at 12) that much tougher.

Fant certainly has the speed you'd be looking for at the position. The thing that worries me, though, is that he doesn't appear to be very big, and is not known for his blocking. Hockenson has that prototypical TE "look", which is why he's getting the pub right now. He's got that Gronkowski/Kelce-type frame that makes it appear he's going to be a solid all-around TE. Fant is more of in the Evan Engram "oversized WR" mold ... which certainly isn't a bad thing, but would have to be utilized differently. If they really like Hockenson, it wouldn't surprise me if they pounce if he's there at #12. Otherwise if Fant falls to #30, I could see that too.

I do not like Irv Smith. I don't know why, but he screams bust to me. Perhaps its the lack of ideal TE size, or just a mistrust of Alabama products.
