MLB.TV

Anyone doing MLB.TV this year? I'm about to sign up again. I didn't need it last year as I was in WI, but I'm now out of state again and need to get the service.

Was there anything new last year? Have you seen anything new for this year?

Random question but I was able to sign in to my parent's fox sports go account and watch Brewer's games, the last few weeks of last year, when we moved.. It doesn't seem to be working now. Did they change something?

This isn't all that helpful for you, but apparently a new perk of being a 20 pack holder includes a free mlb.tv subscription. I thought I'd mention for any 20 pack holders that haven't seen or noticed this perk yet.

As for fox sports go, I haven't tried a game yet this year but I would assume it should work normally. Probably just a weird day as you said. If they are in Wisconsin, they shoudl get FS Wisconsin and you should too on fox sports go.

I've had that perk from my 20-game subscription for several years now.

Hmm, maybe I missed the notification in prior years then. I swear my rep told me it's a new promotion this year. Maybe I needed to get a certain level of seniority to get it. That's interesting though, and disappointing as I would have definitely used it previous years.

I got AtBat - the audio-only version for the past 6 years. But never got MLB.tv until this season.

Fox sports go will only work in the location you are currently in...IE,you won’t get brewers games using FSG if you’re in say Texas. Find a friend who has T-Mobile as they are giving away mlbtv to subscribers again this year.

Sorry to dig up an old topic, but I received my yearly email for the free subscription to MLB.TV with my 20-game season ticket package.

For years, we have had the MLB Extra Innings package on Directv but I am seriously considering cutting that service (and the $183 price tag!) and using the free subscription with my Roku player.

I live in Arizona so the blackout rules for most Brewer games will not apply (I still will get the Sports Pack so I can watch pre- and post- game coverage, as well as the games in which the Brewers play in Phoenix.)

Anyway, reading reviews online are a crap-shoot. Some people love it, some people hate it. Some complain of buffering on 1gb super fast ethernet speeds. Some don't. I don't know what to believe.

Can I get any user reviews from you folks?

Thanks in advance!

I use MLB.TV through Fire TV. And on my laptop. It's great. I have few buffering issues despite running it over Wi-Fi. I will note that the broadcast tends to be about 20 seconds behind other sources so if you find that annoying it could be a downside.

Pitchleague, I've used mlb.tv for 5 or 6 years. I love it, and never have an issue with buffering. I don't have gigablast or anything like that. I love the versatility of having it streaming. When I'm out of state in my summers, I get Brewers games everywhere (except Wisco). My only issue was last year the Brewers games in San Diego were blacked out for some reason in Scottsdale. No clue why, I spent like an hour on hold. I was told it shouldn't have been. But never got an answer or apology.

I too am a big fan of MLB.TV. I'd say I've had the service for a good 7-8 years now. I've never had any issues with it, besides a random couple seconds here and there of the picture getting blurry. I'd say that is pretty rare now. I've got 100 mbps currently. I love being able to watch on the go, and also use the audio part of the subscription a ton. Perfect for sitting on the deck or in a boat, in the summer. I would highly recommend the service.

I use Apple TV and the app on my tv.

MLB.TV is a great product, and I like putting on other teams when the Brewers aren't playing, but MLB is stupid for blacking out local teams. I didn't know this, but someone told me you can't get Chicago games in Milwaukee, and in Iowa you can't get a most of the Central Division because of their location. Baseball's popularity is going down, and making it more difficult for fans to watch games isn't going to help anything. I don't know if this is due to TV contracts, or what, but it's so frustrating to say the least.

It is the tradeoff for the massive TV contracts that everyone signs--exclusive rights to the market. Most now accept that this is terrible for the long-term health of baseball, particularly attracting new and younger fans. But at the current time the TV contracts are too valuable to get changes.

Fox sports Wisconsin doesn't work on my fox sports go app anymore. I have U-verse. Once I login, it's gone. I still have FS1 etc. This is why I was asking about cord cutting, i watch alot of sports on my mobile so not having that ability, makes it no longer sensible to have cable TV.

I think my wife and I have decided to give it a try. It supposedly will be activated before spring training games begin so I can try it out for a week or so before making the final decision. Directv told me that I will be billed for the first installment of Extra Innings on March 15th so I can cancel before then. And they also told me that if i change my mind, I can always renew the subscription after the season starts.

Thanks for the information!

I used it for the first time last year and had minimal issues. Initially I had issues connecting to games, but I just had to reinstall the program once and I was all set for the season. My first thought was the whole blackout thing, but in Arizona you'll be fine except when the Brewers play the Dbacks.

Others have noted this, but you're on a delay. So if you're on the phone or texting with someone watching the game and don't like spoilers...make sure said person is aware you're on a delay so they don't spoil the Braun walkoff or Lorenzo Cain game saving wall catch.

This is odd - I have UVerse and just tried the FSGO app on my phone. I was able to watch what's on FS Wisconsin without any issues.
