The Brewers are way into record payroll territory, and the question is whether that will hamstring them come trade season in July. Mark Attanasio: “The chips are all in now. We’ll find the money at midseason if we need to.”

Kinda hard to believe that "the chips are all in now" when the Brewers payroll is less than the Bucks. The Brewers current payroll is about $121 million while the Bucks current payroll is $126.5 million, the Bucks payroll is expected increase in the upcoming offseason. I think Mark A should still has some chips left that he's not letting people know.

Brewers at the present time are no longer a small market team in regards to current revenue. Lasts years playoff revenue & increase in attendance

Has moved us to lower mid-market. Mid-market teams can support a payroll of 150 mil+. With another double digit increase in attendance this year plus another possible playoff run not to mention a new tv deal coming....sign kimbrell and Gio to 1 or 2 year deals and lets go win a World Series!

I don't think the 2.85M fans makes up for having one of the 3 worst TV contracts in all of MLB. You also have to keep in mind the revenue per attendance. I'm sure the Mets 2.25M attendance brought in more revenue to the Mets than the Brewers 2.8M fans. But definition of mid-market is obviously subjective.

Man I am so tired of the record payroll talk. Our payroll isn't even that impressive. We haven't been seriously competing for over a half decade and financially baseball has dramatically changed. Between inflation, the national TV deal, our soon to be TV deal, and a list of other factors $120mil is not all that impressive of a number we increased to.

Grandal and Moustakas are short term deals so our future payroll is still really low. Short term we can have an unrealistic payroll because revenue has such a big spike when we know we will be good and fans are going to flood the gates. This whole $120mil number is not a big deal. They would probably push the payroll to $140mil+ on the year if a major part had no commitment past this year.

I could see a regular lineup like this:

cf: Cain

rf: Yelich

lf: Braun

3b: Shaw

1b: Aguilar

c: Grandal

2b: Moustakas

ss: Arcia

Against a tough right-handed pitcher:

cf: Cain

rf: Yelich

lf: Braun

3b: Shaw

c: Grandal

1b: Thames

ss: Moustakas

2b: Spangenberg

Against tough lefties:

cf: Cain

rf: Yelich

lf: Braun

2b: Shaw

3b: Aguilar

1b: Grandal

c: Pina

ss: Arcia

If they want a lot of boppers:

cf: Cain

rf: Yelich

lf: Braun

2b: Shaw

3b: Aguilar

1b: Thames

c: Grandal

ss: Moustakas

I'm sure they can cook up an all-Gold Glove defense if they wanted to...

Fantastic take Mr.T Plush.

49 years & this franchise has never won a World Series.some of us fans are getting old like me,first game at county stadium June 1970. If not now when? We will draw 3+ Mil fans this year, more than double our market size. We have the best, most loyal fans in baseball, sorry St. Louis. Local tv ratings thru the roof, yes I know we also have the smallest market there too,but we will get an increase next year with that. There’s more, like mrTPlush already stated, so I’ll stop there. The city of Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin is ready to explode with this team. This team is maybe good enough as is, but if we can strengthen this team with a Kimbrell signing and potential trade deadline addition, and our payroll for the year is 155 mil then that’s a great investment. And that’s not even “all in” cause even if we don’t win the World Series this year there will be next year.

Reports (2 sources) said Kimbrel's agent is asking for 6 years and over $100M. A lot of money and a lot of years to invest in a 31 yr. old reliever. That's why he's still available.
