NBA All Star Game Half Time Show

TURBO

If that is what today's music is all about, I am glad I am completely out of touch.

If that guy is considered talented, I'm sad for our future.

That was actually disgusting.

He's really good, it seems like your issue might be with the genre.

Really?

That was considered good?

It was absolutely unbearable.

The crowd even looked bored.

Ok, I'll take my ball and go home, but that was really bad, I mean just horrible bad...

It's not my cup of tea either but I think he's a pretty good rapper.

I made it through the first song and half of the second song on "Top Tracks" on Tidal of J. Cole. Farther than I thought as I was about to stop 1 minute into the first song. My issue with rap is that the "pretty good" artists are still abysmally bad compared to other music artists. I think Rap has the same issue as Metal in that so many bands proliferate that aren't very good because their target audience isn't very discerning, which in some ways is pretty common with "boutique" music. Death before Disco, Death before death before Rap... I could listen to Gnarls Barkley on repeat for 5-6 hours before even wanting to play 1 song from J. Cole. Personally, I don't get into music artists who think their lyrics are too good to be drowned out by "background" music. Music by definition is not some poser who thinks his/her words are gods gift to the world, but sound and rhythm and tempo and everything most rap songs lack. Sure I'm painting a broad brush when I stereotype that, but I haven't found good rap and I really would be interested in hearing some good rap. Anyone with recommendations?

I can't recommend good rap but I like Tech N9ne.

For the most part Rap is more about a beat that goes on a loop than it is about musical instruments.
