50/15 would seem like a pretty good deal. The exposure value of the naming rights was recently estimated at $2.76 million and Miller was paying $2.02 million or something. So getting $3.33 in the short term is a nice little overpay to compensate for the devaluation down the road. So if that is the figure it sounds pretty fair.

Well, we got our big signing just in time for this Sunday.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I am anxious to see the number figures for the naming rights.

I heard $50 million thrown out yesterday, seems light to me for 15 years..

Does his name change back to "David Stearns" after 15 years or does it become a generic "Milwaukee Brewers POBO" if nobody else steps up with naming rights money?

Great news. I was worried that Stearns would move on to a bigger market before long.

Same here. The Brewers had already denied Stearns an interview with another team. This move will make it near impossible for another team to grab Stearns before the end of his new contract.

Hopefully, that contract is at least ten years... if not more.

One of the tweets from Haudricourt said that the Giants wanted to interview him for their President of Baseball ops last year (before hiring Farhan Zaidi) and that this promotion basically prevents any team from talking to him unless the Brewers give permission.

Edit: as MadScientist indicated in his above post..

Here is the website of the org chart prior to today's promotion. What exactly is the change? There was nobody that had title. Looks like it is really just a title change but will still assume the same responsibilities.

For example, my job description is technically just structural engineer...but I also do computer programming, manage people, and many other things that aren't really a part of my technical job description.

That's exactly what this is and it is becoming common place in pro sports. Create a "new" position for a guy with a new title that's essentially the same job he had before but sounds more impressive so you can promote him and prevent another team from coming after him. In a couple years teams are going to start creating a new position above President of Baseball Operations for this same reason. Probably something like "Despot of All Encompassing Baseball-Related Endeavors".
