Miller Park name change coming after the 2020 season

I looked up the original deal. Essentially 2 mil per year for 20 years. Now, of course 2 mil is not nothing but it's also not much for a corporation like this. Especially when they'll probably blow just tons more on a few Super Bowl ads this week that no one cares about. I'd guess they weren't willing to pay that much again though since it's not 'new' anymore. Just guessing of course.

Ehh, whatever. We had one of the most boring park names in history in "County Stadium" for a long time, so I think we can deal with "American Family Park". If they add the word "Insurance" to the name, that would be stupid.

If this money is put back into the team, I'm good with it. However, I'd be kinda mad if I were an American Family customer. How about putting profits into more affordable insurance plans, instead of wasting money on baseball stadium naming rights that really have no connection to your industry?

Look for a full change on their primary logo. Without the Miller connection, no need to keep the Miller M & Barley.

If this is the impetus to finally going back to the royal and yellow ball and glove logo, then I will tolerate the name change.

I second this. Those jerseys and logo are fantastic. They really should bring it back.

From a cultural and sporting perspective, Miller Park was a great name. Local company. Lots of history. Easy to say/remember. And it's beer - which weaves itself into Wisconsin sporting events pretty seamlessly. It's fun, it's relevant and it's kind of cool.

AmFam is a fine company with Wisconsin roots. But it's insurance. There's no fun in insurance. It's just another blah name - like Firserv or AT&T or Verizon or whatever. People might respect - and even like the business - but few consumers will have warm fuzzy feelings that company either.

Miller Park was a great name. I will be sad to see it go.

This. Right here. I will tolerate if it gets us to Ball & Glove as official logo!

I agree with others, the name change will feel weird and I liked the sponsorship marriage between Millercoors and the Brewers.

I would hope they still sell MillerCoors products over AB Inbev products. As others have mentioned, hopefully this will lead to a larger presence of local craft beer offerings.

This is a shame. As others have said, Miller may have been a corporate name, but it was a local one and it tied directly to the team name which ties directly to the city’s heritage.

Miller Park and Miller Brewing are within sight of one another. It was a perfect match, and for Miller, it was a way to be visible with other brewery-named parks in St. Louis and Colorado.

I mean, it’s not a game-changer as far as buying a ticket or anything, it’s just a shame.

Maybe they will make enough money from this that they will be able to get rid of the five county sales tax by the year 2030!

When the Brewers start calling for a new state of the art ballpark that the city/counties/state needs to fork over to keep the Brewers?

Just when I give the Brewers credit for being a good organization, they firmly plant the corporate head up the corporate ass...

What is the difference between what Only Money Matters stadium and what MillerCoors was offering? It's possible with all the changes with Miller there is no longer any link to the Milwaukee community that MillerCoors cared to maintain... But I'd be much more down with Harley Davidson Park/Field/Stadium than this colossal CF...

So why assume it’s the Brewers’ fault? I put the blame on MillerCoors before I do the Brewers.

Add me to the list of fans who are disappointed. AmFam has been throwing money around Madison (chiefly at UW) for a while now, so I suppose that they're aiming for MKE isn't a total surprise?

Miller Park is a corporate name that isn't IN YOUR FACE corporate. American Family Field (the least offensive iteration I can think of) is.

At least it sounds slightly less chintzy than Guaranteed Rate Field. :(

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Still better than the other MIL pro teams venue name and way better than the White Sox...The stadium logo is literally Guaranteed Rate with a MASIVVE red arrow pointing downwards. The White Sox were so money hungry they still did the contract after Guaranteed Rate denied taking the red arrow out and replacing it with a black homeplate that looked similar to their logo, but not quite.

So....they should just stick with Miller because it sounds better, even thought they are getting a better deal from AmFam? You do realize that Miller Brewing is a corporation also, right? I have absolutely no issue with the business decision they are making here.

Now that I'm over the initial shock, I'm wondering why we are hearing about this now, almost two years before they need to make the announcement. Is the change coming sooner? Are they trying to get ahead of the complaint curve? Seems odd.

Probably knew it would leak. Fiserv being the Bucks corporate sponsor was one of the worst kept secrets so when it was finally announced it wasn't a big deal. Will be a little odd the next couple of years.
